I'm testing out the DJI Osmo Nano right now - recording a timelapse of the Amtrak Cascades route from Vancouver BC to Kelso, WA! Love the suction cup mount it comes with, so good for this kind of journey. However, battery life is an issue for such a long shot as this.

The cafe car reopened, might have been better if it had remained closed. Patty: 0 flavor. Cheese: only in the loosest sense. Bun: bread-flavored taffy. Fortunately the bag it came in should be just the right size to hold the "burger" when it eventually returns.

My supper this evening, seeing as the dining car is closed due to a lack of power, and we are going to be stuck on this train for another 7 hours.

We've been sitting here for hours while our train hooks up and tows a different broken Amtrak train. Why doesn't Amtrak have some better plan in place for this type of situation? Why aren't passengers at least compensated for such delays? Rail transit can and should be better than this.

Newsom just vetoed important legislation to reform forest practices on state forests in California. He has a really bad track record of vetoing much-needed and popular legislation, likely at the behest of corporate interests. We don't want Gavin Newsom as the Democratic nominee in 2028.
