This is easy to understand even if you're unfamiliar with Jewish communal life. I'm not a religious Catholic in part due to the Church's views. To demand I prove my anti-Clericalism/social liberalism by not interacting "true" Catholics means I can't go to baptisms or like, visit my granny.

This was the breaking point for me. This is a perfectly reasonable and empathetic amendment that respects family ties and Jewish community institutions. It in no way undermined the purpose of the emotion as sold. To vote against it is absolutely unhinged and, in my opinion, openly antisemitic.

"Zionism will mean different things to different people" is simply a fact even among people who identify as Zionist. This was simply never taken seriously by the motion proposers, which displayed to me that they had literally no interest in speaking to Jewish people about this motion at all.

The GPEW Zionism motion is quite unhinged and it passing in its current form would be a disaster. You can be anti-Zionist, pro-BDS, and fully support efforts to end the genocide in Gaza and still think that that motion really, really needs to fail.

Every time Adrian Ramsay speaks he undermines the cause he stands for, and other Green MPs should be more wary of having him alongside them speaking in their defence. "I will ignore the membership if they vote contrary to what I want" is a *really* bad way to approach being a Green representative.

In 2014 pensioners were getting phonecalls from Labour's phone banks in England telling them their pension was at risk if they voted Yes, the only way to save their pension was to vote No. All for the most piddling wee pension in Europe, even less than the sexist handout to Italy's women.
