#PacificGreatBlueHeron at Blakeburn Lagoons in Port Coquitlam, BC Canada. The Heron landed on a short log in the west lagoon when I had my back turned. It scared off the duck for a time being. Later on when I came back there were no ducks but a long of Canada Geese in the area.

#BirdyLongLegs is the alt prompt for #BirdoftheDay, and these Black-necked Stilts seen in flight, reflected over calm water certainly have long legs, and very pink. Though normally graceful, when landing they can look a bit like a rubber chicken. #Birds #eck 🪶

A tarantula on the pebbly surface of a paved road. It's big, it's hairy, and it has enormous palps. The top of the thorax is tan-colored. The rest of the spider is medium to dark brown, with lighter hairs in many places.

For #BirdOfTheDay #BestOfTheMonth, I finally got some photos of the Pin-tailed Whydah doing his courtship "dance" in the air! These guys kind of bop around mid-air, letting their long tail feathers shake and float around in an effort to impress a lady. I was thrilled!
