James Harris @jbwharr.is · 1hTry it again now. I did push a new version that did have some big changes this week, so it's possible clearing your cache and re-signing in might help as well to be sure. 000
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 3hI’ll see what’s up. I had another site on my hosting get bot bombed, but they applied a bot challenge to all my domains. I’ll see if I can get them to remove it 010

James Harris @jbwharr.is · 02/10/2026Makes me think of how Microsoft skipped Windows v9 and went to 10 because they didn’t want to be behind OS X (10), only for Apple to start iterating 11, 12, 13, 14 & 15 after iterating v10 for 19 years. 100

Or someone wanting Born In The USA to be a patriotic song instead of an indictment of America. It’s just embarrassing stuff. You get Kid Rock and Lee Westwood and you’ll like it. 050
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 30/09/2026I was speaking with an AI bro who had built this whole vibe coded music app. While it was technically interesting, his explanation left me floored. Basically said what if someone likes the sound of the music, but finds the lyrical content objectionable? All I could think was this was for Republicans 150
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 30/09/2026I could agree with that. I feel like this era was also around when I started exploring and listening to WOXY and my disdain for corporate radio started to build. 111
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 29/09/2026Honestly that’s a very solid chart with quite a few all-timers in the list. The Nu-Metal era was definitely in full swing. I find I always look at these charts through the lens of songs that still get play on corporate radio and there’s lots. 100
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 28/09/2026Feels like an eternity since I pushed a release, but it's finally rounding into shape the structural rethink. 010
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 28/09/2026That was so brutal. Though the optics between Marsden being old and dying versus a guy they fired last week ending his life are definitely worlds apart. 010
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 28/09/2026I don’t think there’s any way they could ignore it. It’s practically a marketing opportunity to get people to tune in. 100
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 28/09/2026You’re not alone on that one. I track my listening through lastfm pretty religiously and do most of my listening through radio. If it happens to be played on one of the mixed genre stations I listen to, that’s fine, but it’s been a year and I haven’t heard it in the 22k different tracks I’ve heard. 000

James Harris @jbwharr.is · 27/09/2026Corporate Country is like that. It’s entirely possible to live your life without having it cross your path in any fashion. 040
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 27/09/2026This feels like demographic splintering, in the same way shows I’m familiar with, like Widow’s Bay and Pluribus, clean up at the Emmys, and some people are like “WTF, I’ve never even heard of these shows”. I watch AppleTV all the time, but do understand it’s a microniche of online streaming services 100
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 27/09/2026I listen to a lot of music, 27,654 different tracks in the last year. I’ve never heard this song. And looking at the lastfm stats, it’s not a tremendously popular song, though I’d say lastfm’s serve userbase doesn’t tend to skew Country. 110
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 26/09/2026Yes, I like to refer to Cambridge as the Fast Eddie’s capital of Canada, since we have 3 locations 😂 010
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 24/09/2026I only had to feel the pain periodically with a job where the office was Downtown, but the idea of putting up with it week or worse, daily, was totally untenable. But as we're seeing with the high speed rail between Montreal and Toronto there's always people putting blocks in place to stop progress. 000
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 24/09/2026Absolutely, but I live in Cambridge and it appears abundantly clear we’re a GO Train afterthought even within Waterloo Region. I’d accept these crumbs of making Downtown more accessible. As it is most people here drive to Aldershot to take the GO because the Kitchener line doesn’t work for us. 100

James Harris @jbwharr.is · 22/09/2026And so far it seems like the whole setup puts less load on the CPU and the fans fire up less often. The Surface Laptop is a nice piece of hardware, just doesn’t have the benefit of being an ARM processor. 020
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 22/09/2026The irony to this is I’m finding Ubuntu actually works similar to what I want macOS to do, like having an App grid that’s similar to LaunchPad. And many of the things that worked a little janky on my Hackintosh, like sleep wake work butter smooth on Ubuntu. Just need to work on my dev setup now. 210
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 22/09/2026So I ended up with Ubuntu, which I’ve used years before. And honestly it’s pretty good so far. I felt like one of my big hurdles was I always hated the more Windows style key bindings, and I seem to have solved that so far reassigning the alt and ctrl keys. I was even able to get iCloud working. 100
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 22/09/2026I tried Solus first, but it didn’t feel right. Then I tried to install ElementaryOS and couldn’t even get it to install for some reason, it kept giving me issues about the EFI, so I gave up. I demoed PearOS, which was honestly kind of embarrassing. It tries to be macOS, but is so rough. 100
James Harris @jbwharr.is · 22/09/2026Have been giving Ubuntu an honest to goodness shot this week. I have a Surface Laptop 3 I bought awhile back and has been running macOS Tahoe on it.
