The number of work-related books in my TBR 📚 pile is growing too fast! I'm going to have to set aside dedicated reading time over the summer to get through them. Outside. Under a tree. Hmm, nevermind.. maybe this isn't so bad after all... 😆

"There was no one way to edit; good editors did what the writer or the text demanded." 💯 — no notes. Quote from the brilliant book Toni at Random by Dana A. Williams, about Toni Morrison's time as a senior editor at Random House. Great account of the author–editor relationship 🤝

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇨🇦 The W/Cup starts today and I'm very excited to be working from home—no hidden screens, no suppressed reactions, no interruptions! Despite F*F* being corrupt++, the game itself is still worth enjoying. We can hold both truths at once. Now, if you'll excuse me I have an opening game to prep for ⚽

Happy two-year freelance-versary to me! For someone who said "I'll give it six months and see how things go," I'm very grateful to still be in this position. Is it stressful? Yes. Is it fulfilling? VERY yes. 💫 May your -versaries feel successful too 💫

I avoid political discussions on social media, but just need to say that I'm re-reading Orwell's 1984 and it is all sorts of 😬. To be fair, I'm balancing that out with A Mouth Full of Salt by Reem Gaafar (not uplifting, just not as doomsy). Hope you've got some balance in your current and TBR piles!

AI can be a great starting point to shape a grant application. However, I recently edited an AI-generated proposal. Sure, the punctuation was spot on, but there were numerous issues to address in style. Use AI to help outline the work ahead—then write. #AcademicSky #GrantWriting #Research #AI

Random reminder! Proofreading fixes text; editing strengthens ideas. Academics often ask for a proofread when they actually need an edit. Both have value, but purposes differ. The writing will benefit from an edit for clarity and coherence before it gets a proofread. #AcademicEditing #AcademicSky

The grant budget isn't just numbers—it's a whole section of the narrative that needs intense editing and integration. Every line item has project implications. Fellow grant editors and writers, tell your teams to start the budget when they start the proposal draft! It impacts ev-er-y-thing.
