Indomitable

The pinyon-juniper woodland is the most prevalent plant community in Canyonlands National Park. Junipers can survive in some of the mist inhospitable conditions of intense heat, cold, wind, and drought. This is due to their massive underground root system, and large tap roots. They are very slow growers and can live between 350-700 years, although some have lived more than 1,000 years. I’ve always liked this particular juniper perched on this cliff, and its twisted trunk.
