Can someone build a webcam that’s just a rear phone camera in a tiny box? Why do all the webcams need to be so huge?

The @jj-vcs.dev 0.46.0 release finally supports colocated jj workspaces and git worktrees! I've been running a build off main for a week or so, and can confirm it's as great as it sounds github.com/jj-vcs/jj/re...
Release highlights: Jujutsu can now colocate workspaces besides the default one by creating Git worktrees. Use jj workspace add --[no-]colocate and the setting git.colocate to control this.

update on this after a day of use: there are limits on how many times you can relocate a chunk in a naive implementation until the quantization noise starts driving the model insane thankfully a marginally smarter implementation just keeps the original pre-rope BF16 values and doesn’t care lol

I think program as interface makes sense still? I think there’s a ton of interactions where clicking a button or filling in a form make more sense than a natural language interface

genuinely disappointed that our field has accepted the easy untruth that it is in principle impossible to sandbox computation reliably and computers just necessarily have magical bugs that manifest within them as if from bad air level of magical thinking no, insecurity is there bcz we let it be

@polytoken.dev would you be able to add command-based token refreshing to the polytoken provider config, similar to the codex model_provider command / refresh_interval_ms? I have an internal proxy that uses oauth, so I have to daemon-reload to refresh my token right now 🙏

"I do well with explicit instruction and well-defined tasks with unambiguous success criteria" well, agents do too & they're faster than you, so unfortunately all we have left is [looks at clipboard] vague direction towards poorly-defined ends without any clear feedback loop for success or failure.

Yes but I’d rather suffer via nix than via docker. A lot of the benefits only become apparent when you are working with other people (or agents) when you have a unified dev environment and can drastically reduce the amount of CI compute required via caching

I would note that this is much weaker security than real touch id, since you’re storing the login password in the esp32. This is roughly the equivalent of writing your password on a sticky note attached to your computer, since it’s stored in the flash of the esp32 which has no hardware security.

Why @why.bsky.world · 13/07/2026
I spent decades of my life loving the craft of writing the best code, priding myself in generally being regarded as pretty good at what I do. LLMs gave me a bit of a forced perspective shift that taught me what I really enjoy is the building of the system, the architecting of how it’s going to work.
