On a Sunday morning in March 2025, hours after Dennis Francis Barrett left his parents’ home in West Alton, Missouri, he got into the fender-bender that led to his death. Police officers responding to the crash found that Barrett, 38, had a warrant for violating probation.

These layoffs at McClatchy newsrooms are devastating: 30 at the Miami Herald, 12 at the Lexington-Herald Leader, 7 at the KC Star. And who knows how many more. Across this country, the powerful are getting exactly what they want — fewer watchdogs and less accountability.

the rise of the whole influencer thing is also a direct result of there being fewer jobs in actual media -- but more importantly, there are practically no entry-level media jobs so young scrappy upstarts are basically doing everything on their own and learning that they can actually make a living

Amendments 4 and 5 are losing close to or more than 80-20 in absentees in Jefferson County. I think it's safe to say that Missouri will not attempt to phase out the income tax or make it harder to amend the state constitution.
