The strangulation of local news has had monstrous impacts on America. This is an interesting idea and could do a lot to reverse some of the impacts of news consolidation/elimination.

What It Feels Like at Cornell Right Now

In 2014, I interviewed a Columbia University student who went from class to class carrying the mattress she was raped on—a protest performance piece to remind college administrators what they put on her shoulders. Twelve years later, we still expect women on college campuses to carry that weight.

On the *same day* the Cornell Seven drugged and raped Jane Doe, Cornell banned four students (including the President of Cornell JVP) from campus for three years for nonviolent, pro-Palestine protests. The same Cornell officials let the rapists off with apology essays.

the horrific cornell gang rape case has me thinking about emma sulkowicz who alleged she was raped as a student at columbia in 2014 and never got any justice. it has me thinking about the physical and mental weight young women are forced to carry while their safety is subsumed by male potential.

"Dude, that's fucked up" and "Hey man, what the hell?" are a good start - works equally well with friends / acquaintances or complete strangers. Don't let your mates get away with bullshit, and don't leave it lying if some rando starts it hear you. Chuds thrive on social permission - deny them it.

Climate Week is next week, in New York (NVIDIA will be speaking at quite a few events) We think it's time to start asking the RICHEST COMPANY ON THE PLANET questions about its pretty poor climate record, and weak climate benefit claims If you're there - please, go ask them directly:
Key Questions NVIDIA should be asked

3. Does NVIDIA study the actual effect of
data centre deployment on power sector
emissions, and if so, what is the real net
effect even with ‘demand response’ options?
4. Will NVIDIA commit to cleaning up its
supply chain for production, such as through
investments in additional renewable energy?

"A mid-size data centre uses as much water as two golf courses" - you can see, again, how their own anxieties are driving them to use dodgy presentation here. "Mid-size" obscures the full distribution, and as time goes on, this curve continues to skew towards the red zone as they get bigger:
top 20 data centres for google consume more water than 66 golf courses
