can we take a moment to just think about how incredibly scary magical healing is in-context?

You get your insides ripped open but your friend waves his hands and your flesh just pulls back together, agony and evisceration pulling back to a 'kinda hurts' level of pain and you're physically whole, with the 100% expectation that you'll get back up and keep fighting whatever it was that struck you down the first time.

You break your arm after falling somewhere and after you're healed instead of looking for 'another way around' everybody just looks at you and goes "okay try again".

You've been fighting for hours, you're hungry, thirsty, bleeding, crying from exhaustion, and a hand-wave happens and only two of those things go away. you're still hungry, you're still weak from thirst, but the handwave means you have 'no excuse' to stop.

Infuriatingly, Wyra shrugs. "Dunno. Seems like your new little organization is one enough, isn't it? Gotta fix the panic from a world you couldn't save." He swirls his glass of rum in his hand.

"And that is what you're doing," the words in her mouth are dry and scathing, "saving it?"

The grin on Wyra's face is foreign and unsuited for her. "Oh, I have no pretenses of bein' anyone's hero."

The letter that Y'shtola held onto felt hot in her pocket, fury bubbling and threatening to move from being a stone in her stomach and throat. Against her better judgment, she removes it from her pocket and slams it back down on the table in front of him, as if to now prove a point.

Maybe this was her last hope.

Y'shtola stands with her arms crossed as Wyra lounges smugly on a couch behind her just ever so slightly out of focus, surrounded by two red-headed women and one brunette. Y'shtola appears annoyed with whatever Wyra is saying.

Minfilia smiles slightly to herself as she looks over a wax seal on a letter at her desk in the Waking Sands, slightly illuminated by candlelight.

Wyra sits with her head in her hand as she slumps over in her chair in her Captain's Quarters, tired of the decisions she has made, and worried she will regret the one she will.

chago has a freaky photographic memory that he developed as compensation for being illiterate! It works best with what people say to him & worst with repetitive day-to-day tasks. He's also generally just very active & fit & highly coordinated, making most physical classes easy to pick up :D

When G'raha Tia awoke in his Tower to the Warrior of Light smiling and crying tears of what seemed to be joy, or perhaps hope, overtop of him, he didn't know how to feel. He had no idea how much time had passed, what may have occurred, what caused them to weep, or – least of all – what was to come for him.

There had been barely any explanation given to him as, what he would come to learn, was the soul transfer vessel of the Exarch – another version of himself, of his soul – was thrust towards him while the Warrior looked on with so much hope in their eyes. He'd do anything for them, do anything to please his inspiration, his lodestar, his hero… so he made no comment to them on how excruciating the merging of souls was.

A furious thumping wracked his frame. It took a second to realize it was the crowd stomping in rhythm as they cheered for the duo and booed for him.

A'chago could feel the anticipation, the sweet restlessness of the fight in his muscles, the sharpness of his surroundings. The near-weightlessness of his chakrams, despite their heavy material. They begged to be thrown. His fingers itched with the need to loose them. The great burning in his chest, the beating more, more, more. He loved to fight.

It started slowly, almost imperceptively.

G'raha Tia hadn't noticed it at first, hadn't noticed the pin prick of crystal that started on his chest, just above his heart. It was an annoyance, an itch.

When he did notice it, he rationalized it away. It was a trick of the light, a scab from some wound that only looked to be crystal – anything other than the truth. He wasn't yet ready for the truth.

Though, nothing could've truly prepared him for the truth.
