My take on "Sally Strand" from the 1941 Merrie Melodies short "Hollywood Steps Out"

A nude blonde woman standing in a spotlight holding a translucent bubble in front of her. "Sally Strand" is a caricature of Burlesque performer Sally Rand who was a well known dancer in the 1930's and 1940's, famed for her Fan and bubble dance routines. The short "Hollywood Steps Out" featured a rotoscoped dance routine that cleverly kept Sally's figure hidden behind the bubble at all times. The short was directed by Tex Avery, who would later use similar techniques and inspiration in the MGM short "Red Hot Riding Hood" and created the character of Red, who in turn would serve as the inspiration for Jessica Rabbit in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"
