In other news, I'm back from paternity leave. I largely haven't existed on the internet or even anywhere in the real world outside of my home for two months and doing nothing but spending time with my wife and kid for so long really put into perspective how much other shit just does not matter.

The most infuriating thing about games journalism is it often (not always) reports the company line. "Microsoft says it has to do this meet challenging market conditions." It is a trillion-dollar company! It doesn't have to do anything! Microsoft is *choosing* to ruin peoples' lives! Call it on it!

Sometimes "writing" isn't writing at all. Sometimes it's research. Sometimes that research is manually counting (and re-counting) how many blocks wide and tall Pokémon Red and Blue's map is so you can do the math for Kanto's dimensions in pixels for a dumb, fact-based segue that'll probably get cut.
