Because I don’t have a credit cart steam won’t let me by 18+ games anyone because the only way you can prove your age is credit card. I feel that’s extremely shitty

Made me realize discussions on difficulty are tricky - there are two things that often get conflated, because a game can have both 1. games ABOUT overcoming difficulties (broadly, post-souls action RPGs/roguelikes) 2. Games that are difficult but not focused on 1's feeling (arcade, some RLs)

Looks like it is time to mute the word "Zelda". Nintendo just can't help themselves by showing off stuff. I actually want to be surprised by how things look when I play the remake

I have a game without random encounters called Angeline Era! You fight enemies in real time. It's on all consoles and PC. store.steampowered.com/app/2393920/... #NeverMissASale #DiscourseMaxxing

Fire Emblem Fortune Weave's characters when they ask a random bird what the secret to life is and the bird sings a song instead of flapping its wings:

MY DISAPPOINTMENT IS IMMEASURABLE
AND MY DAY IS RUINED

I miss the old days of gaming. Before paywalls, ridiculous prices and collectors editions not coming with the game. We really didn’t know how good we had it.

The Astarion prequel novel comes out next week, and I got a chance to sit down with @tkingfisher.com to chat about the book, Baldur's Gate 3, working within a massive IP, and how she balanced comedy, tragedy, and whimsy. Also paladins. So... so many paladins.

rascal.news

T. Kingfisher’s Astarion is hilarious, heartbreaking, and utterly tragic

The book perfectly captures Astarion’s voice, and refuses to talk down to the audience through trauma, pain, and the small light of hope.

And just to get it out of the way: Obviously, don't reveal the big bad or big twist before a game even launches, duh lol.

Jawn 🦒 @jawnisrad.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Still on the topic of spoilers, There are varying degrees of "spoilers" and e should reflect on what they mean. Is a vista with no context a spoiler? Are weapons or characters not in trailers spoilers? Are the launch trailers spoilers? Are reviews spoilers?

Jawn 🦒 @jawnisrad.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Not foolproof but would solve some of it

161

Jawn 🦒 @jawnisrad.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Everyone could really avoid a lot of spoilers for games by using the "mute" function for words or accounts you know will be playing the game you don't want spoiled.
