i unironically really like mgk's pop punk songs. some may think it's derivative trash, but travis barker did a really good job in making the songs stick in your mind.

And "they'll ignore it" is not what happened in Missouri last month!

as you know i was not a believer that he could win texas and i'm still skeptical, but the fact that paxton's allies pulled the "he's in an ohio mental institution" fabrication yesterday really suggests to me paxton is in a lot of trouble.

That's completely separate from the extremely flimsyness of the story itself.

I also just want to add getting mental health treatment is not a disqualifying offense from public service. Thomas Eagleton served honorably in the Senate for nearly 20 years w/ bipolar disorder. The fact this "story" is being supercharged on X is one of the reasons I'm glad I deleted my account.

(They won't hold elections btw because Ukraine's constitution suspends them while the country is under martial law. But it's even stupider because Russia is essentially a fascist dictatorship at this point.)

Jason Rosenbaum @jasonrosenbaum.bsky.social · 11/10/2026

The right-wing talking point that Ukraine is bad because they won't have elections is so stupid for a number of reasons. But an easier rejoinder is that Poland was not a democracy in 1939. That didn't give Germany and Russia a right to wage a war of genocidal extermination against Poland.

"That's What You Get" is my choice. It could be just nostalgia from Rock Band 2, but it's also a really good song.

Some ~personal~ news: After five years, I have been laid off from @the-independent.com. I am grateful for the time I have had there. With that in mind, I am absolutely looking for new work opportunities, especially ahead if the midterms. My email is EMGarcia2009@gmail.com. My signal is emgarcia.85

Muse is a great example. You could hypothetically tell it to book you a massage. But why? How is it improving your life if you ask a computer program to do something that takes you two minutes to do yourself? What are you going to do with those extra two minutes? Stare at the wall?

My grandparents bought me 10 shares of McDonald's stock in the 1990s. I think it was at $13? I sold the shares last year at $306 a share. My secret to investing success? Just let your stock sit around for 30 years and then remember you have it when you want to buy an Osmo Pocket 3.

ok so i'm pretty late to musical things. rebecca black becoming a legit pop act a decade-plus after "friday" was something i found out about two months ago. "anaheim star" is a legitimately great pop song. i'm not going to say it's the "best thing i've ever heard." but it's on rotation for me.

This story is great but man I am laughing at how much this guy looks like Michael McDonald - did any other genes even make it in? If you told me that he’d been the result of asexual reproduction by Michael McDonald I’d believe you

A guy who looks basically 1:1 like Michael McDonald who recently found out Michael McDonald is his biological father

What is The Bluesky's opinion on In An Aeroplane Over the Sea? I love it, primarily because I used to listen to the album all the way through while walking on Columbia's MKT Trail.

FWIW: Hawley actively supported Vicky Hartzler instead of Schmitt in 2022. They are not close political allies.

031

Jason Rosenbaum @jasonrosenbaum.bsky.social · 01/10/2026

This is not going to go over well in The BlueSky but... Schmitt won a very heated and difficult primary in 2022, raised a ton of money to ward off challengers for AG and treasurer in 2020 and 2016, and basically kept a competitive state Senate seat red for 8 years. That does take skill and talent.

I think STL would be a fabulous place for WNBA team. It would get a ton of support here.

Jason Rosenbaum @jasonrosenbaum.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

It is no secret that I am a huge NBA fan and would love to see a team set up shop either in STL or KC. Unfortunately, that's probably not going to happen. Former Gov. Jay Nixon told me in 2018 that he asked David Stern to create a STL/KC team and was rebuffed pretty harshly.

On a side note, the Atlanta Hawks have never won a NBA Championship. The ST. LOUIS HAWKS, on the other hand, won it all in 1958, the year my dad (who was born and raised in STL area) was born.
