The GPS-only generation will never understand the skill required to re-fold a paper map while driving or sitting in the passenger seat.

genAI is a 10x programmer, in that someone on the team using it makes any other programming or maintenance in the codebase 10x as hard and take 10x as long.

And if you, a user, go into a developer Discord and tell them to "just use AI" for something - art, programming, writing - that should be an immediate ban from Discord for being a complete fucking idiot.

Or we can go back to the time when all hacking was classified as "terrorism" and ship them all to Guantanamo Bay.

I remember a time when hacking into a computer system came with punishments like never being allowed to use a computer system again. We should go back to that and restrict anyone who works for any of the AI companies from computer use over their "rogue agent" breaches.

Basically nobody goes into game development to make lots of money. People get into game development because they enjoy the craft. And those who use AI have given up on that craft. Those who think AI is fine for things outside their discipline are insulting the other disciplines.

If you think an artist's style looks like AI but you can scroll back through their portfolio and see them doing the same work before 2020, congrats, you're not looking at an AI grifter. You're looking at one of the original victims whose entire style AI stole.

Ah yes, corporate data breach and compromise of user information settlement. You too could receive ... checks notes ... $5. Which will certainly cover any inconvenience that might result from the data breach, right?

So fucking sick of political text messages. Every time you stop one, two more pop up like a fucking hydra. The 30-a-day rate makes me want to throw my phone into the garbage disposal. Democrats can you please STFU about "My Decision" or "Tough Decision" or the fucking FEC deadline?

This part of the muse privacy and security debacle manages to be worse than it agreeing to lowball offers in your name on marketplace, giving the buyer your address, and then telling them you're home when you're not; because this part? The "it reading messages you explicitly told it not to" part?…

Meta Muse AI reportedly read Mac Messages without consent
In a completely unsurprising turn of events, Meta's Muse AI is stealing Apple Messages, past and present, and uploading the contents to its cloud, even if explicitly told not to.

I'm now picturing the inner bag of holding becoming a reference to somebody else's bag of holding. They might pull out items you put in. You might get their items. It becomes more like a bag of many things.

More Sunday-night-spent-the-day-debugging-live-service-issues-instead-of-relaxing-so-now-drinking-wine game dev lore:a whole generation of game devs was trained to never even *hint* at a system that them might be *considering* because that turns into promising delivery of a system.

What works fine for one person on a single dev server often doesn't work well with a lot of people on a large system of distributed servers.
010
Jason Maltzen @jason.maltzen.org · 21/09/2026
And to the original post, MMOs are really big complex projects and no single dev really understands how the systems work together *without* experiencing them. The systems were made by anywhere from 20-300 people mostly working in silos, many only testing as a single player on a single server.

Proposal for game devs: Users starting up "is this game dead" discourse should be cause for an immediate ban from discord servers, forums, etc. It provides no value and just alienates players. It's just pure toxicity.

You’ve gotta use AI because it’s the future. But also it’ll take your job. But also it’ll create a paradise on earth and solve most of our problems. But also it’ll end humanity soon. But also you’ll get left behind if you don’t use it right now.

ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok Are Down
It is apparently not a good day for AI chatbots, as ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok are all down or experiencing issues for many users. OpenAI's status page acknowledges issues across ChatGPT and Codex, while Grok's website notes that it is currently experiencing issues as well. Likewise, Anthropic's status page indicates Claude is experiencing elevated errors. All of the companies are investigating the issues.Tag: ChatGPT This article, "ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok Are Down" first appeared on MacRumors.com Discuss this article in our forums
