Ah yes, corporate data breach and compromise of user information settlement. You too could receive ... checks notes ... $5. Which will certainly cover any inconvenience that might result from the data breach, right?

So fucking sick of political text messages. Every time you stop one, two more pop up like a fucking hydra. The 30-a-day rate makes me want to throw my phone into the garbage disposal. Democrats can you please STFU about "My Decision" or "Tough Decision" or the fucking FEC deadline?

This part of the muse privacy and security debacle manages to be worse than it agreeing to lowball offers in your name on marketplace, giving the buyer your address, and then telling them you're home when you're not; because this part? The "it reading messages you explicitly told it not to" part?…

Meta Muse AI reportedly read Mac Messages without consent
In a completely unsurprising turn of events, Meta's Muse AI is stealing Apple Messages, past and present, and uploading the contents to its cloud, even if explicitly told not to.

I can think of many options. Among them: repurpose RCS thrusters to replace gravitational force.

"a U.S. citizen" "was taken to the hospital for injuries to his head, neck and teeth after [federal] agents drove off" If there is no due process for others, you do not have due process. This is not law. This is lawlessness.

Proposal for game devs: Users starting up "is this game dead" discourse should be cause for an immediate ban from discord servers, forums, etc. It provides no value and just alienates players. It's just pure toxicity.

I always wonder what kind of complete loser one has to be to spend time that could be use playing games going into game developer Discord servers and game forums just to post concurrent user numbers, which seems to be the new form of "is this game dead?"

You’ve gotta use AI because it’s the future. But also it’ll take your job. But also it’ll create a paradise on earth and solve most of our problems. But also it’ll end humanity soon. But also you’ll get left behind if you don’t use it right now.

Data center investment rises sharply from near zero in 2015 to about $800B in 2025; chart also shows renewables and solar climbing steadily while oil and gas investments fluctuate at higher levels (2015–2025, USD billions).

The Democratic Party really need to figure out how to make its fundraising less terrible. I shouldn't be getting 4 texts in 3 days about 3 different candidates that are all "My Decision" or "A Tough Decision". You really need more fucking variety in your playbook.

ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok Are Down
It is apparently not a good day for AI chatbots, as ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok are all down or experiencing issues for many users. OpenAI's status page acknowledges issues across ChatGPT and Codex, while Grok's website notes that it is currently experiencing issues as well. Likewise, Anthropic's status page indicates Claude is experiencing elevated errors. All of the companies are investigating the issues.Tag: ChatGPT This article, "ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok Are Down" first appeared on MacRumors.com Discuss this article in our forums

A certain AAA studio told employees that their internal gen AI was trained only on local data, but whenever said employees tried to generate an image of a woman holding a gun, it generated Lara Croft. The studio was not Crystal Dynamics, and had never worked on the Tomb Raider IP in any capacity.

In yet another instance of AI being ABSOLUTE FUCKING GARBAGE YOU SHOULD NEVER USE, I wrote up nice instructions in a ticket with code blocks for instructions, and someone else had AI reformat it, which deleted some instructions entirely and removed all the formatting changing code blocks to bullets.

Today's game dev tips: localization. 1. Build your localization support early. It's MUCH more difficult to wedge it in later. Even if you aren't having your game translated yet, make a fake language you can use to test. 2. Don't build text through concatenation. Use substitution instead.

In the time of people claiming "I made" after using genAI, I'm reminded of this Indira Gandhi quote: “My grandfather once told me that there were two kinds of people; those who do the work and those who take the credit. He told me to try to be in the first group; there was much less competition.”

Consistently with this team that is using AI for everything: there's a typo in a filename, so AI updates the documentation that had the correct spelling to refer to the incorrectly-spelled file instead of, you know, renaming the file like a sane person would do.

I'm sure it's fine for someone to open a giant AI-generated PR that changes code in a bunch of low-level systems less than a week from release, to solve a "problem" that doesn't really exist. They tested that extensively before opening the PR, right?
