Not sure if there would be any value for you in it, but would be happy to collaborate on it. Could use it myself and would be curious what you've learned from the process.

Any thoughts of open-sourcing the project (or have you already)?

The use of the word "yet" is quite fascinating. By his tortured logic there is no way they could ever assimilate and yet he seems to hold in his mind that there is something they could do to assimilate while clearly believing it is not possible at all.

I wonder how people will respond to the gray area in between purely human and purely AI work. A person may have a vision and iterate hundreds of time with AI to try and realize that vision. How much does that invalidate such work within the realm of human creativity?

Yes agreed I wasn't implying that the processes are the same.

We clearly learn and incorporate new information in a far more dynamic way than an LLM but I’m not sure our thinking based on available information is so different

Jared Cosulich @jaredcosulich.bsky.social · 23/09/2026
Do you know if there is clear evidence that our brains do something dramatically different?

Jared Cosulich @jaredcosulich.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
That's fine with me. The phrase "type of shared cognition" seems like one of the more accurate ways to describe what is going on, but still not completely accurate. Even if there are other mechanics at play between your input and the LLMs output I don't think that completely disqualifies the output

Jared Cosulich @jaredcosulich.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
Then I simply think we need new words to capture how a machine can produce novel and useful (maybe even creative) solutions to problems or goals. I'm not sure there are any good ones yet. Stochastic parroting does not capture it and that's one of the few attempts I've heard.

Not sure how you got that impression but that’s not what I am suggesting…

Jared Cosulich @jaredcosulich.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
I certainly don't think LLM are "thinking" like we "think" but I'm not sure there are very good definitions of what thinking is. That's part of the problem here. We don't have very good words to describe what we do when we "think" or what the LLM is doing.
200
Jared Cosulich @jaredcosulich.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
I don't think that's true. Inference is not a massive iteration across a wide range of solutions. It's a path through an explosion of possibilities (maybe there's a better way to describe it). I'm not sure our brains do something so different.

Jared Cosulich @jaredcosulich.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
Ant colonies don't solve complex problems in a way that is akin to human capabilities. This is just something new. It's not human thinking clearly, but it's even less akin to an ant colony.
100
Jared Cosulich @jaredcosulich.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
But that's not a relevant example. As you said the LLM output isn't random. In fact if I give it a problem it will likely solve it. That solution may never have existed before. If that was from a human you would call it creativity. We don't need to call it creativity from an LLM but it is akin to it
110
Jared Cosulich @jaredcosulich.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
Or maybe more specifically the novel creation of different things to create something of value. I would not consider random combinations to be akin to creativity.
100
Jared Cosulich @jaredcosulich.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
Isn't creativity just the novel combination of different things?
210
Jared Cosulich @jaredcosulich.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
I think this is a bit extreme in the other direction. LLMs have no goals so anthropomorphizing is inappropriate, but their training is potentially something akin to thinking in that it allows for novel/creative solutions to problems. We don't have very good words to describe what is going on.

If I were trying to gain influence on US laws because I was a powerful individual, corporation, or a foreign country I would 100% try to gain a foothold in both US political parties (left and right). I'd play a long game in both but push toward my agenda. This could account for some current behavior

I think a major problem is that you need the “spec” to be unambiguous but the English language inevitably breaks down in that regard at some level of complexity. Code is unambiguous but then you’re back to writing in code.

New: Macklemore says Robert Kraft — who owns Gillette Stadium, where Macklemore & Ed Sheeran were to perform later this month — called Sheeran. Kraft rallied other owners together behind an ultimatum for Sheeran: if Macklemore stays on the tour, you won't be allowed in our venues.

I'm not sure how to start this. So I'm going to speak from the heart and share the truth. Ed Sheeran and his team have made the decision to remove me from The Loop tour.
But before I get into it, I want to say something that should be obvious. In this moment I think it matters. I am not a victim. Ed Sheeran is not a victim. Pink is not a victim. We have careers, money, opportunities, safety and audiences around the world. Whatever consequences any of us face for what we say, we get to go home to our families.

The victims are the Palestinian people. The men, women and children who have been killed, starved, displaced and forced to live through unimaginable violence. More than 20,000 children have been killed in Gaza alone. People are being killed today, and people will be killed tomorrow. I want to make sure that as I tell this story, we don't lose sight of that.

Ed is my friend. I've known him for 13 years. We've shared late nights, studio sessions and stages. He has this infectious magic about him that I've grown to love. I consider him a brother. And because of that, we've had some difficult conversations this past week. The type of talks rooted in love and respect for one another that still end in a place of fundamental disagreement. Nothing I'm writing here is out of spite or because I want to tear down his character. But as I told Ed multiple times on the phone, our friendship can't change my responsibility to tell the truth about what happened.

Last Monday, in the middle of all the media attention surrounding Pink and what I said at MetLife, Ed told me that Robert Kraft called him. We were scheduled to play Gillette Stadium later this month, which is owned by the Kraft Group. Ed told me that Kraft said I would not be allowed to perform in his stadium. Ed also told me that Kraft had rallied some of the other
stadium owners and collectively they gave him an ultimatum: if Macklemore stays on the tour, you will not be allowed to play in our venues.

Ed was in …What I said at MetLife I have been saying on stages around the world for almost three years. So why is it an issue now? Because now I'm sharing a stage with one of the biggest artists in the world, in some of the biggest stadiums in America. At a certain level of exposure, "Free Palestine" becomes too much of a risk. If I kept doing the shows, saying Free Palestine, with Ed implicitly supporting it, the crowd getting loud and showing undeniable support for Palestinian liberation, what artist might speak out next? The stage becomes resistance. Maybe that's why this time it became so important to silence me.

And one of the most effective ways to enforce that silence has been to weaponize the accusation of antisemitism. Antisemitism is real. And that is exactly why the word matters too much to be used as a shield against criticism of the Israeli state. When criticizing Israel, opposing Zionism or saying "Free Palestine" gets conflated with hatred of Jewish people, it doesn't protect Jewish people. It protects Israel from accountability.

I hope this isn't the end of my relationship with Ed.
Thirteen years of friendship doesn't disappear because of one painful disagreement. I hope we both continue listening, studying what is happening in Palestine and wrestling with what neutrality means in a moment like this. My door will always be open to continuing that conversation.

When my brother Omar was doing the subtitles for the video I posted from MetLife, I thanked him. He told me there's a phrase in Arabic:
لا شكر على واجب
"La shukra ala wajeb." There is no thanks for a duty.
That stayed with me. Because that's what this has become for me and millions of others around the world. A duty. Not something deserving of praise or gratitude. Not brave. Human.

Who is winning the internet, who is getting canceled, who gets to play the stadium and who doesn't, all of it becomes so small when held against what we are actually witnessing in Gaza and the West Bank. An entire people be…

These dynamics aren't mutually exclusive. We only have so much time available so it seems plausible to both explore good literature and see information in context and use LLMs to find more relevant good literature.

If you ever want to try out CodeYam let me know. Works with Claude/Codex/Gemini subscriptions and puts them through a more rigorous workflow so vibe coded apps are more stable and maintainable. Goes a little slower than just using the models directly but we've found it pays off over time.

It takes you 20 paragraphs to get to the part of the article where they admit that Mamdani isn't paying the influencers and the reason they are posting videos of the stuff Mamdani is doing is because people are interested in watching it.
The mayor’s office says that it does not pay the influencers. Still, their proximity and access to a figure as popular as Mr. Mamdani can help increase their own social media following and, by extension, potentially put them in a position to attract paid content sponsorships from commercial brands. Some influencers said that when they feature Mr. Mamdani, the videos get more likes and viewers watch longer.

The value of Graham Platner is that right up until all his red flags came toppling down upon him is that he is the most naked example of the amount of grace & credibility Simply Being White grants you. Compared to Abdul El-Sayed, who has to re-earn every ounce of credibility he has on a daily basis.

Oh yes that's probably true. I think most big companies have that fear. It's a reasonable fear, no? I suspect the layoffs have to do with a lot more than that. Not trying to defend the guy. Certainly doesn't seem to have motivations aligned with societal benefit...

That's an interesting perspective. I hadn't heard that before. Would you apply that same advice to getting a friend or spouse to give it a read and provide feedback as well? Either way I think you'd think a lot about the feedback before blindly using it (or you're not doing it well)
