I've started unfollowing/muting people who repeatedly share posts clearly written by LLMs. It's disrespectful. If someone doesn't have time to think through what they post, whatever they have to say isn't worth my attention.

New party trick: whenever someone starts arguing AGI is imminent, shout "I refute it thus!" and show them Bergman's PERSONA.
A still from Bergman's persona: a black and white still of a boy wearing glasses and holding up his right hand against a screen that shows a blurry face of a woman.

@rantyhighwayman.bsky.social jarango.com/2019/11/22/t... Important dictum. When I took those lessons on driving streetcars, I engrained it in my head well how much an industrial machine it was. Same with O ring temperature in January 1986. OSHA innovations were paid for in blood.

Using Freeform on iPadOS. Whenever I switch to another app (e.g., Safari) for an instant, Freeform resets and the tools go back to their original settings: pen weights, eraser mode, etc. Incredibly frustrating.

Are you feeling anxious? I wouldn’t be surprised if you are. AI is upending our work — and our identities, too. Greg Petroff and I have been discussing what we’re hearing from design and product leaders.

Ok, here’s the deal. It’s been over a year since Harry and I started “Traction Heroes.” We’ve published 29 episodes, one every other week, without fail. And we know people are listening, because we can see the stats. But there’s a problem.

Even though my humanities crash course wrapped up at the end of 2025, I’m still keeping up the habit. Rather than follow a syllabus, I’m now getting to classic books that have long been on my to-read pile. Because I’m not publicly accountable, I can enjoy them at a more leisurely pace.

I’m increasingly impatient whenever I hear someone stuck in a high-level, abstracted read of a situation or context. Internally, I’m screaming, “Get to specifics!” (Yes, this is a note-to-self — I’ve been that person.)

Big UI changes feel weird at first, but eventually, we get used to the new way. The opposite is happening with Liquid Glass. It’s been a couple of months, and I dislike the new direction more every day. Far from letting the content shine, it constantly calls attention to itself. Such a misfire!

Sad to learn of Bob Weir’s passing. Like many in my generation, I came to the Dead through “Touch of Grey” and only ventured further long after they were done. But I return to the band often — and Weir’s contributions are a big part of it. RIP.
