UPDATE: I've just added a pen overlay tool to the Algebra Tiles. It needs a bit of tweaking (rubber tool etc) and once I'm happy I'll roll it out to the rest of the manipulatives. mathsbot.com/manipulative...
A screenshot of the Algebra Tiles tool with the new pen overlay being used. In this case to complete the square.

GCSE Mathematics: There’s quite the gap between the percentage of marks needed for a grade with AQA/Pearson and OCR/Eduqas, particularly at Foundation tier - they’re about one grade adrift. For example, 44% on F will get you a grade 4 with OCR - but that would score a Grade 2 with AQA or Edexcel 1/4

The image is overlaid with green and blue geometric shapes and patterns. Large text in the centre reads: “Ritangle returns in October”. The Ritangle logo appears in the bottom left corner and the MEI logo appears in the bottom right corner on a pale blue background.

One for the nostalgists: GCSE Mathematics 2026 graded A*-G (This exercise fails somewhat around Higher tier grades D and E which shows, if any further evidence was needed, that Grade 4 boundaries were set way too low in 2017 and have been ever since)

NEW BLOG: Are We Sure We Are Not the Bad Guys? www.emaths.co.uk/blog/persona...
A surreal split theatrical mask stands upright, one half dark and one half light, framing two contrasting landscapes: a bright countryside on one side and a bleak industrial cityscape on the other. A winding road passes between them beneath the title “Are We Sure We Are Not the Bad Guys?”, symbolising moral ambiguity, self-reflection and the challenge of questioning prevailing beliefs.

Mixed media learning (sounds good). Students complete construction exercises using a pencil, ruler and compasses, then measure a length on their construction. They type it online, which awards the mark if within a given tolerance. www.transum.org/Intro/?ID=403 #mathsresources #mathstoday

If Pearson knew the 2025 maths exams were so similar to the 2022 ones, why did they think it was a good idea to go ahead with them? Surely other options were available. If they didn’t know, what does that say about their QA procedures? This story doesnt add up! www.gov.uk/government/n...
