Maria Ressa was awarded the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize (with Dmitry Muratov) for "their efforts to safeguard freedom of expression, which is a precondition for #democracy and lasting peace." She is the first Nobel laureate from the Philippines. Happy birthday @mariaressa.bsky.social 🥳

A color photograph of Maria Ressa, born October 2, 1963, the pioneering Filipino journalist, co-founder of Rappler, and co-recipient of the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize. She is standing at a dark wooden podium, captured from the chest up. Smiling broadly with an expression of joy and animation, she looks slightly to the right of the frame. She wears thin, rimless eyeglasses, a black turtleneck, and a textured, patterned blazer in shades of cream and light pink or soft orange. Her right hand is raised forward with her palm open and fingers extended in a welcoming, expressive gesture, while her left hand grips the flexible neck of a black microphone attached to the podium. The warm, soft-focus background suggests a grand indoor lecture hall or auditorium with architectural details. The bright, direct lighting emphasizes her optimistic and commanding presence, reflecting her historical significance as a fearless champion of freedom of expression and democratic resilience.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg died #OTD in 2020. Champion of race & gender equality. Pioneering lawyer on women’s equality. Civil rights hero. Major pop icon. Notorious RBG. Key justice on America's highest court. #WomensRights #CivilRights #SCOTUS #RBG

A three-panel chronological photo collage of Ruth Bader Ginsburg (1933–2020), tracing her historic journey from a pioneering civil rights lawyer to an influential Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. The composition transitions from left to right across three distinct eras. The left panel: A black-and-white portrait of a young Ginsburg, smiling warmly with bright, forward-facing eyes. Her hair is pulled back, and she wears a patterned blazer over a draped scarf, exuding a welcoming yet determined mood. The center panel: A color portrait from her early Supreme Court tenure. She wears her hair pulled back into her signature low ponytail with a black bow, paired with large, gold-rimmed glasses and elegant gold earrings. Donning her judicial robes with a crisp white jabot, her thoughtful expression reflects her status as a formidable legal mind. The right panel: A portrait of Ginsburg in her later years against a rich red backdrop. Her hair is sleekly pulled back, showing turquoise earrings that contrast with her black robes and intricate white lace jabot. She looks directly at the camera with a subtle, resilient smile, projecting an aura of quiet strength. The overall mood shifts seamlessly from youthful optimism to seasoned, historic authority.
