We have been using it to share data and code for a while and are in general very happy with it. In particular, the pipeline from a Github release to a Zenodo DOI for code is really slick. 1191
John Anderson 🇨🇦 @janderz8.bsky.social · 11/08/2026Given the changes happening to @cos.io and the OSF, I think a lot of researchers will be looking a bit more nervously at the durability of the open components of their pipelines. 010

John Anderson 🇨🇦 @janderz8.bsky.social · 09/04/2026@getcoldturkey.com i love your software & have tried it successfully myself. Have you had thoughts about a version teachers/professors could ask students to install & the timer is synchronized (everyone starts and stops at the same time) and the file gets saved to a common location? 100
John Anderson 🇨🇦 @janderz8.bsky.social · 06/03/2026congrats! Is there a preprint version of the article? I can’t access this version 110
John Anderson 🇨🇦 @janderz8.bsky.social · 13/02/2026I was asked to give a guest lecture this morning for the Health Sciences Department on brain aging @carleton.ca. John Anderson 🇨🇦 @janderz8.bsky.social · 03/02/2026This is awesome! Do you know if this measure correlates with the attention squared tasks of Draheim/Engel fame? 110
John Anderson 🇨🇦 @janderz8.bsky.social · 04/01/2026I've changed my approach to reading & reviewing papers. Rather than reading on my computer, I read on my e-ink device (supernote) & mark them up there, then they're synchronized back to my computer, where I summarize the notes in a document. This has been much better for close reading! #academia 050
John Anderson 🇨🇦 @janderz8.bsky.social · 03/01/2026I can understand if it’s on purpose, sometimes though the weak LOR is the only thing in the application that stands out (including compared to other glowing letters). Then you‘re left wondering if the person KNOWS something, or if they didn‘t have time to write a strong letter 210
John Anderson 🇨🇦 @janderz8.bsky.social · 03/01/2026Reading applications for NSERC/OGS, I think there should be a course on how to write excellent letters of recommendation. Some things shouldn't be brought up in LORs (they are actively detrimental or irrelevant). Positive points should be concrete. LORs that are too short aren't helpful. #academia 250

John Anderson 🇨🇦 @janderz8.bsky.social · 30/07/2025Mostly looking at language loss with dementia progression & new ways of assessing that carefully. John Anderson 🇨🇦 @janderz8.bsky.social · 21/07/2025I wonder if #AI will close academic discourse even further as people mistrust people they don’t already know. John Anderson 🇨🇦 @janderz8.bsky.social · 17/05/2025 Every year I get to write an annual report.
