The likely explanation of this is that they simply don’t have an adequate plan. That’s why they won’t allow us to know their plan: because they barely have one. (That’s why they have tried to suppress the National Security Assessment on ecosystem collapse and the DEFRA ‘critical systems’ report.)

It’s ok everyone. Burn’em has banned sale of disposable BBQs. We’re saved. Nothing about more support for Fire Services or emergency response and mobilisation, or confirming no new oil or gas drilling in North Sea. And it’s just a ban on the sale. Not the use. FOR F*CKS SAKE. What’s it gonna take?

I see no point, other than making profit for the oil and gas industry, of approving Jackdaw and Rosebank. The oil and gas will be sold on open market - no benefit to energy security or bills, just more emissions, more wildfires, more floods, more harvest failures. And CCS is not proven at scale.

1/ So Rosebank would pay to store 62.5 MtCO2 (2.5/yr) whilst Rosebank generates 250MtCO2 in same 25 years Even if CCS works (a very big IF), then this is a great deal for Equinor, Shell, Ithaca Energy, Delek Group and Eni AND a very bad deal for the planet. One reason why CTBO is non-starter

Really? Is that it? If this is all that’s come from COBR, it’s pitifully inadequate. Yes. As a councillor I've become increasingly disenchanted with culture of politics, & I've seen this in the Green Party too. Too often decisions are driven by what wins votes, rather than what is right & necessary. That's increasingly at odds with what we need to do to survive, let alone thrive.
