It’s been a while, but here’s today’s shot for #Caturday… 😻

A virtual Christmas card for everyone, courtesy of Private Eye..! In a polarised world, I’m firmly on the side of goodwill to all & tolerance of difference. With a sense of humour to keep everything in perspective! Merry Christmas everyone, and a very happy, peaceful and positive New Year..! 🎄🙏🎉

This cartoon is one of my favourites - seems particularly relevant this week, and to today’s conversation @mrjamesob.bsky.social…

Breaking News: Just seen Matthew Pennycook’s tweet (‘post on X’ if you prefer). He retains his role as Housing Minister. Phew. Continuity is to be maintained (a rare feature over recent years) and, whilst increased urgency is badly needed, progress on policy and implementation can continue…

Partial solar eclipse through light cloud, just a few minutes ago. Taken on a handheld compact camera at 40x zoom, with a 10-stop filter, from our garden..! ☀️🌙😎 #SolarEclipse

It’s time for my annual apology for not sending many Christmas cards out. So here’s an old favourite from @privateeyenews.bsky.social conveying the message via sociable media instead! N.B.: Please note that, although the caption is clearly now out of date, the sky is very blue..! 🎄🦋😉🎉

If you’re looking for interesting new cheeses to add to your Christmas celebrations, perhaps this is one best avoided..?

Today’s Telegraph front page indicates that it must be #NPPF day. I wonder why they didn’t use this simpler and more accurate headline: “Government plan to tackle the housing crisis” 🤔🤷‍♂️

030

James Pargeter @jamespargeter.bsky.social · 17/11/2024

Digging behind this peculiar @thetimes.com headline gets closer to the reality of tackling the housing crisis. The OBR projects 1.3m new homes over this parliament (260k pa), which is significantly more per year than the stated 1.6m under Tories since 2010 (c.115k pa). Disappointing spin on show…

Personal news klaxon! 🚨 Yesterday was a truly magical occasion, getting married to Dara - surrounded by family and friends from near and far - amidst pinkness, food, fizz, flowers, speeches, love & dancing into the night! And a Sunday roast to revive us this afternoon..! 🎉💕👏

Monday’s @thetimes.com front page. Increased funding and subsidy arrangements for social & affordable homes will be critical to delivering the Government’s wider housing ambitions. Definitely a key area to watch out for in the Budget… #TomorrowsPapersToday

Hunter’s Moon tonight over SW London. Hard to tell with the naked eye if it was bigger, although it certainly did seem brighter than usual. Forever grateful for my amazing camera..! 🌕🙏😍 . #compactcamera #zoomlens #handheld #notripod #canonphotography

Great start to today’s Movers & Shakers BTR Forum event - Deputy Mayor @tomcopley.bsky.social talking about housing ambitions for London, and the part that #BuildToRent will play in delivering more homes for Londoners across the full affordability spectrum. #BTRForum24

Poignant and sobering to be close to Grenfell this afternoon - a constant reminder of those who died so tragically and everyone else affected by the disaster more than 7 years ago… 💚😢

Desperately sad news to hear that Karl Wallinger has died at 66. ‘Goodbye Jumbo’ was brilliant, ahead of its time in its environmental message, and a favourite album of mine. There were many more songs of course, not least ‘She’s The One’ and he’ll be greatly missed. #RIP

Wondering why housing was hardly addressed at all in the #Budget? This polling from Redfield & Wilton might be a factor. #Housing as a key issue for likely voters for each party: * LAB - 3rd most important issue * LDM - 6th * RFM - 6th * CON - 9th (behind tax & pensions) Crisis, what crisis..?

Skimming through the papers, I thought this is due its annual outing (credit: @privateeyenews.bsky.social - not sure which year!) . A good reminder not to follow society’s trends, but what suits your own life. Be kind, but you don’t have to follow the herd..! . Have a wonderful 2024… 🎉 ☺️
