Political violence is a sin. Period the end. And the greater sin lies with those who foment and glorify violence. Those who tell us that violence is ok and justified. And who does that? Not trans folks, not your average lefty and not immigrants either.

If political violence is viewed as a valid tool we can use, then we aren't a democracy, or even a civilized country. Those around Christ wanted him to be a conqueror, to bring justice through force as a "martial Messiah," but he offered them something better: salvation through love and restoration.

Please pray for the repose of Charlie Kirk's soul and for his family. This is a complete tragedy. It doesn't matter whether or not you agree with his politics; he was still a human being, a husband, and a father. The person who killed him was a murderer and deserves a just punishment.

Everything in the universe is God's creation, I simply think humans/ensouled beings are capable of a direct connection with God that other things aren't. You could say everything was "saved" by Christ, but being saved for humans means so much more than it does for a pebble or amoeba.

I'm not sure I buy the idea that Christ has to share exactly in the genetic nature of the ones he is saving. It sort of depends on your atonement theory though. I tend to think of the resurrection as applying to the cosmos and not only to Homo Sapiens.

I'm actually writing a story about this at the moment, and my theory is that Christ's single death is sufficient for all creation. Earth would be, in a way, like the Israel of the universe. Somehow the covenant could be expanded to other species as we met them.

I think this is where “human” as a theological concept just means “embodied person” rather than “biological Homo sapiens” (a concept somewhat foreign to the biblical world anyway), which also makes the possibility of aliens easier too.

I think the 1# thing I want young guys my age to take to heart is that they should avoid reactionary politics of all stripes. Young people have always tended to be "creative" in their political beliefs, but I think young white men like myself really fall victim to grifters who push stupid views.

Moral truth, rootedness and belonging, etc. was undermined for years by empty technocratic liberalism. When postmodern right populism and its horrors beyond belief comes up liberalism is horrified (rightly so) but it has no answers that have weight. I am not saying I know the answers.

As someone who fits this description (in some sense or another), I think it comes from a sense of humility and the recognition that I can't know everything about people's experiences. I really can't go into someone's soul and judge them from the inside out.
