I was invited by a church member to open the meeting of a governing body she served on with prayer. I was then put on the spot with, "Could you lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance?" I politely declined. The church member, a bit flustered, said "I can!" & proceeded to say, "We believe in one God..."

I have all respect for United Methodist friends and colleagues who went to Asbury. I spent 5 wonderful years in the Kentucky Annual Conference where most people were alumni. The institution itself has made this persecution and grievance narrative along with schism its business strategy
