think BBC's Sherlock has to win this, adored the first season but the whole thing went downhill with such DRAMA, with such FLAIR that I cringe at the very thought of having ever enjoyed it

Putin apologists want you to buy that: -An alleged off-the-books 1991 verbal promise outweighs a signed 1994 treaty -Democratic countries formerly occupied by Russia asked to join an anti-Russia alliance for no reason -Ukrainians don't want freedom, an American tricked them into it with cookies

The same Vladimir Putin who said this just one week before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine? (Via @news.sky.com)
Russian military drills are "purely defensive" and "not a threat to any other country", Vladimir Putin has said.

The Russian president denied he was going to invade Ukraine following Western leaders warning an incursion is imminent as Moscow amasses more than 150,000 troops at the border.

*Good* reasons being the operative word. I’ve encountered plenty of people of all persuasions who clearly believe they’ve thought about the other side of the argument, but when you actually interrogate, they’ve only ever really engaged with straw man caricatures of the opposing view.

I used to be the sort of person who would go and see everything (and I mean everything, had to get my money’s worth for that Cineworld Unlimited card) at the cinema right up until I became a dad. I have been to the cinema a grand total of three (3) times since my daughter was born.

To go slightly pretentious and quote Oscar Wilde: “Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.” For a lot of people, the distance of online interaction (even when they use their real name online) seems to be enough of a mask.

I loathed, *loathed* playing sports as a kid - even to the point where I was almost glad when I broke my arm aged 11, as it meant I didn’t have to do PE for two months - but I absolutely think playing some sort of sport is a good thing for all young people to do.

Yeah, I did my fair share of mocking him back in the day, but these days I need to get the apology card meme out for Pattinson and Stewart. Both are legitimately good actors, and have been more successful at distancing themselves from Twilight than any of the Potter actors did at their end.

There’s more or less no plausible (stable) coalition that would emerge from this result, unless a British “Grand Coalition” (LAB + CON) were on the table - and few would say that’s a likelihood at present.
