Pictures from Iceland, part one of many. I'll add more every day or so til I'm done, mute the thread if you wish. This was day one (aside from arrival day), which also happened to be eclipse day. Cloudy and grim over Reykjavik but it was very atmospheric and we climbed about 90% of Mt. Esja.

The primary reason society must move to a 4-day week is that the 2-day weekend does not provide sufficient subjects, events and opinions to get through 5 days of small talk with colleagues. I'm usually tapped out by Wednesday after which my team has to make do with mostly grunts from me.

Forgot to share these from the other week. Liverpool Royal Albert Dock, and Paul Simon & tour band.

Royal Albert Dock in Liverpool. It's night and the water is incredibly still, creating a mirror effect on the brightly lit buildings across the dock. A long crowd of people walk left to right across the background, leaving the nearby arena after a music concert. To the right-hand side a crane sits beside an industrial chimney creating a pleasingly angular shape in the night sky.

Paul Simon stands on stage with his friends and touring musicians either side of him. They are preparing to bow after the encore of a concert on his latest tour. Amber lights across the stage show a wide array of instruments including keys, brass, woodwind, strings, guitars and percussion. In particular a set of glass jars catch the eye, used to create a haunting lingering atmosphere in some of his newest songs.

Amazing. A great result for Greens, but also a terrible result for Reform. The worry was that a closer vote split between Lab/Grn would have let Reform in, but it turns out that Reform achieved so little that absolutely any vote split among the progressives (if Lab still are...) would keep them out.

Green party, candidate Hannah Spencer, 40.7% (up 28% on 2024)
Reform UK, candidate Matt Goodwin, 28.7% (up 15%)
Labour, candidate Angeliki Stogia, 25.4% (down 25%)
Conservative, candidate Charlotte Cadden, 1.9% (down 6%)
Lib Dem, candidate Jackie Pearcey, 1.8% (down 2%)
The turnout was 47.5%, and these figures represent all candidates that achieved at least 1% of the vote, others also stood for election.
