Regarding the new paper by Giacomo Gobbo and others on *that* Camarasaurus skull (that is, the one with the soft tissue preserved around the snoot), a useful visual guide of what the authors therin describe. Paper link below.
Visual description of the typical models of skin, tooth, and jaw for the four groups represented here.

Labels point to different tissues, I've just not labels bone. Ooops.

1st, a typical sauropsid, like a lizard or mouse. Soft labile skin on the outside, thick, squishy gums on the inside.

2nd, a crocodilian. Thick, rough skin on the outside, and mostly squishy gums on the inside. The skin around the teeth itself are both gum and skin, and they can be pretty "corny."

3rd, the Gobbo model, which supposes the outer layer of the cornified dermis is a sheet, like a beak, and extends further than the jaw margin, forming a pseudobeak of sorts, or an "odontoscutum," or tooth-scale. Otherwise, soft skin on the outside, but inside you have normal squishy dermis, and the authors suppose the teeth are confined to a much more cornified dense gum. This is not that dissimilar to crocs, but it's much more similar to turtles.

Lasty and 4th, birds and some turtles, in which the soft skin is mostly covered on the outside by a set of cornified sheets that form a ridged beak, or rhamphotheca, with the gum being either super soft in parts, or super hard, cornified.

AP Stylebook warns against anthropomorphizing AI systems: “Avoid language that gives them human characteristics… Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.”
APStylebook @APStylebook

Artificial intelligence systems do not think, feel, want or understand. Avoid language that gives them human characteristics. This is called anthropomorphizing, when we ascribe human traits, emotions or behaviors to non-human things, such as animals or inanimate objects.
Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it.

I can *maybe* see a supporting role for some aspects of outlining, but I also suspect the post-processing required eliminates any initial time or cost savings. Just do it correctly from the start.

In the hubbub about what qualifies as an anime, there is simply no way you can argue King of the Hill and ATLA are animes. It's only an anime if it's made in the Anima Valley in Japan. Doesn't matter if they're derived from Bugs and Mickey, those are just "sparkling cartoons."

We’re going to hear about how everyone loved Dolly, and that feels true. But it’s good to remember, and to her credit, that she was attacked for her AIDS activism, her vaccine advocacy, her LGBTQ+ support and even, more recently, for her reading initiatives. She ALWAYS stood firm when it mattered.

This and the preceeding posts, reflects something that I think is hard for people to understand about the power to change the world, and those who are afraid of it. Kindness, and its transformativeness, as Dolly follows Fred "Mr" Rogers show us, proves love is a strong force, by simply DOING.

"I will always love you" comes from a movie with the titillating and unassuming title of "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas." It was always an odd thing to come across, much less praise, until I watched it. Whitney may have owned the song, but no one was as plaintive as Dolly. Rest, Queen.

Just so you know, since learning "coel-" is derived from Greek *koilos* meaning a hollow space, I've been saying Coelophysis and Coelacanth and yes, even Cephalopod (*kephalos*) with a hard-K since I was like, 15.

chaumas posting on tumblr saying: "my dad's best friend who transitioned after being in a car wreck with a moose posted transition pictures and she's looking amazing."

nentuaby asks: "Waitlike. Are these just two facts about her or did the moose somehow crack her egg along with her car."

chaumas clarifies, saying: "she wasn't publicly out before the moose incident but she needed extensive reconstructive surgery and just snuck gender affirming surgeries into that. so yeah to most people it definitely looked like she had a near death moose experience and they just rebuilt her into a woman."

I like to think of drawing as a sort of challenge at times. You have a vision in your head, and you want to see it. You don't sometimes know what you want until you see it. Then there's this, making you realize: "You don't think you're able to be that good." THAT is the challenge to overcome.

Now I have to wonder why no one's done more than casual levels of "let's make the trunk short and slap it atop the chin there and fugeddabout it" facial reconstruction on belodonts. Mechanical leverage, head swishing, and trunk anatomy would be very fascinating.

Roses are red, our lizard is green, this is the Mix & Match game, to deride how many limbs a dragon needs.
A dragon in blue and green, facing left, bereft of limb or accoutrement but their own fragile skin.

At top left, the words uttered by sages past: "the Mix & Match Game --- Dragon Edition", while at bottom right, the artist's imprint.

Dismembered, the wings float above, while the legs float below, but a smart student might notice these mean the same thing: a wing is a limb, as is a leg and an arm.

One wing is bat-like, with a free thumb; another is bird like; whereas the last resembles a fish's fin, made of collapsing spines to form a "sail."

The legs vary from bird-like and stout, cat-like and mammalian, to scaled but still deceptively mammal-like.

There are also horns above and below the head, to consider how and how many they be placed.

The connoisseur
Two panel comic. Panel 1: a guy opens the door to his apartment for a girl. He says with a smile, “well, this is my place!” She looks a little surprised. Panel 2: the guy is at the refrigerator across the room, grabbing a beer. He asks the girl, “drink?” His apartment is decorated with a poster of Heath Ledger’s Joker, a huge poster of Thanos wearing a crown, mink coat and sunglasses on a background of buzzwords such as “money - respect - sigma”, and a gold Kaws figurine. At the base of the panel is a pair of video game RPG-style move selections that read FIGHT and FLEE.

Heads up: since this name honors the Di-Ne, the Navajo, it's pronounced dih-neh-venator, rather than the snazzier at-first-glance look of "DIE-na-venator," which, while awesome sounding, isn't as awesome as DYE-ne-vator: the killing escalator dinosaur.
