Finally, don’t take them too seriously. There’s zero reason to get worked up because someone made a mock trade you don’t like. Engage if you want or just ignore it. It likely has no effect on the outcome. Your team isn’t going to make a trade because TeamGMSux69 put it out there.

Few other Mock Trade suggestions: - It’s really hard to trade injured players, especially prospects - Prospect ranking are great, but there are delays in public rankings relative to how teams view them - the “Xth” best prospect in one org does not equal the “Xth” best prospect in another

It’s Mock Trade Season. If you dig them, that’s cool. A bit of friendly advice: - Look at past trades and find similar players based on team control, payroll, ranking, production - If you include players you won’t miss, the other team doesn’t want them - Trades are supposed to hurt…

Cubs announce they’ve signed outfielder Dylan Carlson to a minor-league deal with an invite to big-league camp. The switch-hitting Carlson, 27, appeared in 83 games for Orioles last year and posted a .203/.278/.336 slash line and 73 OPS+. A former first-round pick of STL, he can play all 3 OF spots

Projections are more useful than last year's numbers, but here are the average 2025 ERA, xERA, FIP, and xFIP of the four relievers the Cubs have signed to MLB deals this offseason, weighted by total batters faced: ERA: 3.11 xERA: 3.09 FIP: 3.35 xFIP: 3.83

Can we get a Friday, August 28th, 2026 Kyle Hendricks day at Wrigley Field? The 28 is a nod to his number and the Cubs are scheduled to play the Reds, which is the team that Kyle faced in his MLB Debut and final start as a Cub.

The season didn’t end how you’d hope, but the Cubs fought this year. Battled injuries, won 92 wins and a playoff series, was down 0-2 and forced a Game 5, won 4/5 playoff games at Wrigley. Now they head to the winter and the plan will be to build another winner to go further.

the fact that baseball media has to keep pushing a GFM for an Angels prospect's brain injury expenses says more about the Angels organization than anything I could possibly ever say myself

I think the Club option is powerful and far better from a risk/reward profile than just buying out an additional arb year. Plus there’s a lot of incentive for Horton to get to FA earlier. Free agency at 31 is much better than 32

Greg Zumach @ivyfutures.bsky.social · 07/08/2025
Cade Horton might have the perfect risk/reward projection for the Cubs and Horton/his agency to come together on an extension after this season. Cubs lock in $54m and Horton earns lifetime security while still having opportunity to enter free agency at 30/31.

Happy MLB Draft Day to all those who celebrate. I no longer scout it. I barely even know any names this year. I only watched some quick highlights on a half dozen players I've seen connected to Cubs. So, I can't help you with any analysis this year. Please turn to @ivyfutures.bsky.social for that.

Respectfully, I have watched Cade Horton since before he was drafted and I couldn’t disagree more
2110
Greg Zumach @ivyfutures.bsky.social · 28/06/2025
Horton has definitely looked inconsistent but last nights start felt unfairly magnified by other factors.
110
Greg Zumach @ivyfutures.bsky.social · 28/06/2025
But every team needs it so I wouldn’t count on teams being able to add two starters. Adding an arm they believe could start a playoff game pushing Cade Horton down to be their 5? I think a whole of teams would jump at that.
000
Greg Zumach @ivyfutures.bsky.social · 28/06/2025
I’d be surprised if they got two SP. Maybe that happens, but it’s a big ask. One very good starter goes a long way
000
Greg Zumach @ivyfutures.bsky.social · 28/06/2025
I’d trust Craig Counsell on how he wants to develop Cade Horton. If it keeps looking like last night then of course that’s not viable for a team in contention, but one start where he couldn’t keep his team in the game against a premium opponent is a learning moment, not a referendum.

Not sure it’s the best fit positional, but Rob Refsnyder would be a great lefty masher if the Red Sox ended up selling. He’s hit lefties like Suzuki and Tucker over the last two years.

Yeah it's not a flashy move. Ultimately the Cubs need more pitching. Hoyer has said this publicly that it's a hard time of the year to make trades. So you work with what you can, pull some levers, and hope to get a guy where it clicks. If not, try again. Even if it does work, keep trying.
010
Greg Zumach @ivyfutures.bsky.social · 24/04/2025
Ultimately the Cubs have to land a guy. It's not horseshoes. "Almost" doesn't count. However if your concern is whether the Cubs are going to try seriously to add, I'd bet strongly there will be that push.
100
Greg Zumach @ivyfutures.bsky.social · 24/04/2025
Could the Cubs still execute a deal? For sure. Sometimes the stars align. The Cubs clearly know they have concerns in the pen. And they know they've lost Justin Steele for the rest of the year. This winter they spoke with a lot of teams on pitching and they got quite close on at least one deal...

Greg Zumach @ivyfutures.bsky.social · 24/04/2025
Fan how you want. If you want to be frustrated, be frustrated. But it's worth noting that expecting the Cubs front office to make a trade for a significant arm this early in the season doesn't align with past precedent for how teams across baseball tend to operate on buy or sell side.
100
Greg Zumach @ivyfutures.bsky.social · 24/04/2025
I'll do my best to give solid insight. Significant arms just haven't been moved early in the season recently. Looking at 2021-2024 transactions the earliest one was May 21, 2021 MIL: J.P. Feyereisen & Drew Rasmussen TBR: Willy Adames and Trevor Richards. Most "early deals done in late June.

Greg Zumach @ivyfutures.bsky.social · 24/04/2025
Great, but it requires another team be willing to make a move. Historically that’s very unusual this early in the season. Even if the Cubs overpay for a player it doesn’t mean that a team is compelled to move them. May get even more value by waiting till more suitors
