📣 Our new report finds that the Trump admin’s energy + AI “dominance” policies + hostility to renewables will make it even harder for working families to afford their energy bills. Thanks to Trump, the wholesale price of fossil gas could DOUBLE over the next decade, outpacing inflation every year.

The REALLY huge benefit for sodium ion batteries is they’re less sensitive to temperature. They‘re unlikely to overheat and explode, if they do rupture, they don’t become a fire, and they don’t slow down much in the cold. Plus, the material is incredibly abundant and can be sourced from seawater.

We could fix climate change in the most expensive possible ways, including stuff like carbon capture, for a modest fraction of global GDP share spent on WW2. Well over half of all production worldwide was spent on waging that wars. It's mind-boggling

You guys aren't going to believe this, but ... it turns out the oil & gas industry knew that they were poisoning people (in this case, with methane) for years, and they hid it & did nothing to mitigate the harm. No, really, it's true! Incredible investigative work here from @rebleber.bsky.social:

In his 2004 book, The Anatomy of Fascism, historian Robert Paxton identified the passions that had animated fascistic political cultures over the previous 80 years. These may sound familiar.
eelings t
hem "mobilizing passions":
• a sense of overwhelming crisis beyond the reach of any traditional solutions;
• the primacy of the group, toward which one has duties superior to every right, whether individual or universal, and the subordination of the individual to it;
• the belief that one's group is a victim, a sentiment that justifies any action, without legal or moral limits, against its enemies, both internal and external;
• dread of the group's decline under the corrosive effects of individualistic liberalism, class conflict, and alien influences;
• the need for closer integration of a purer community, by consent if possible, or by exclusionary violence if necessary;
• the need for authority by natural chiefs (always male), culminating in a national chieftain who alone is capable of incarnating the group's historical destiny;
• the superiority of the leader's instincts over abstract and universal
reason;
• the beauty of violence and the efficacy of will, when they are devoted to the group's success;
