Why 2500 dollars, or 625 per family, for our goal?In Week 7, we raised it due to increasing fees for receiving cash in Gaza. Fees are now up to 30%, so each family would get about 437. The min. they needed weekly. It's now Week 14
of this initiative, or 17 weeks since we began (due to falling behind.)
Flour costs 1000 shekels, leaving just 117 dollars after fees, or 16 per day. And we're now 3 days behind. Meaning the families likely won't be able to afford new flour even if we reach our goals.
The produce above costs 40 (52
after fees.) Getting daily veggies would leave just 10 a day for essentials, or only 72 for the week. They still need other food items, water, cooking gas, meds, toiletries, cleaning supplies, formula, diapers, internet cards, etc. The reality is that our goal isn't enough now, & we still struggle to meet their weekly needs. Even with food scarcity, they still have other essential costs. Think about the things you've bought recently that weren't essential. For over a year, that hasn't been an option for families.”

One of the most annoying things in the west wrt to Gaza is the idea that "this is too brutal to contend with so im just gonna ignore it and avoid hearing about it." Ppl in Gaza have no such choice. It's their everyday reality. How dare ppl sit in comfort blissfully ignorant of such injustice!
