"Through a combination of negligence and incompetence, our software did a bad thing. Please blame the software, not us, and let's get some regulatory capture going so we can eliminate our liability risk."

This morning's rabbit hole: In 1982, The Cure released Pornography, a compelling, dazzling, but crushingly nihilistic album that fairly or not cemented their reputation as "goth." They took a hard turn from their (supposedly inadvertent) "anti-image" look to the theatrical one they became known for.

Academic Freedom doesn't mandate institutional support for ascientific animus-based dehumanization repackaged as faux-legitimate inquiry. The more interesting question is why Ghent hired this obvious clown in the first place.

In software dev, explaining your code to somebody else is so helpful with debugging and problem solving that I've seen people do so to a literal cardboard cutout. I find coding agents similarly beneficial, except the cutouts can type crazy fast and suggest we use insertion sort instead of quicksort.

Apparently the notion that the utility of money is nonlinear has not yet reached all corners of the internet. "You are utterly broke. Your terminally ill child could be saved with an operation that costs $50k." But apparently "You would be crazy to take a 90% haircut on EV for certain payment."

I find it sadly ironic that while much of the country has fallen to a kind of pathetic, reactionary nostalgic conservatism wrt technology (solar, etc), there is a leading proponent of forward-looking "can-do" techno-optimism. But he is a deluded, narcissistic, sexist, racist, nazi-adjacent dipshit.

Yeah, this is simply not the case. Changing clocks is a PITA, and increases all kinds of risks around the time of the switch. But essentially all of the science shows that what is far worse is forcing people -- especially kids -- to wake up and get around in the dark.

Elon Musk thinks coding dies this year.
Not evolves. Dies.
By December, Al won't need programming languages. It generates machine code directly.
Binary optimized beyond anything human logic could produce. No translation. No compilation. Just pure execution.
Musk: "You don't g."
Code was never the point. It was friction. A tax we paid because machines didn't speak human. Al just learned fluent human. The tax is gone.
Now plug that into Neuralink. No syntax. No keyboard. No screen.
Musk: "Imagination-to-software."
Thought becomes executable. You imagine an outcome, the system architects and compiles it into reality instantly.
We're not automating programming. We're erasing it from existence.
The entire profession collapses into a thought.
Decades of training reduced to irrelevance. The gap between idea and instantiation hits zero.
You don't build anymore. You imagine, and it materializes.
Not incremental progress. Total phase shift. The way humans have created things for ten thousand years just became obsolete.
Welcome to a world where the limiting factor isn't skill, resources, or time. It's whether you can picture what you want clearly enough for a machine to birth it into existence.

What remains one of the best life hacks I’ve ever learned: at any chain that has a phone number-based rewards system needed for discounts (CVS, Duane Reade, etc.), simply put in the local area code followed by 867-5309. There is always already an account. You will always get the discount.

I believe that it is a minor miracle when technical creative projects -- cars, video games, movies -- manage to overcome complexities, compromises, and doubters and become real. As such, I try always to find the positive in such things. In this spirit I'll say: At least it's not Cybertruck-ugly.

There is something beautifully ironic in Dawkins, famous for noting that the existence of biological complexity can fool us into thinking there must be intelligence behind it, believes that because a computer program generates compelling emotive text, there must be consciousness behind it.

Two photos. The first shows Catturd tweeting: Name one US inspired regime change that hasn't ended in absolute disaster

The next tweet shows him posting an AI illustration of Khamenei turned into a pile of dust. It says "I'm eliminated." Two tweets. The first shows Laura Loomer promoting her show, where she says "A message has been sent that we are not interested in going back to the way politics were prior to Donald Trump, prior to 2016. We don't want warhawks. We don't want any more Neocons. We want American First. Period. End of discussion."

The next tweet says: Today is a great day.

Our military is amazing.

@PeteHegseth
 is an absolute killer.

Now you see why the Deep State worked so hard against him.

It’s great having a Sec War who has Infidel literally tattooed on his body.

He actually gets it.

God bless him.Two tweets. The first shows Will Chamberlain tweeting: The Republican Party is no longer the party of regime change and endless wars. If you want to be its standard-bearer that is a non-negotiable position.

The next tweet shows him posting "Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is dead." The tweet has a USA flag attached. Two tweets. The first shows Gunther Eagleman tweeting: "Warmonger Lindsey Graham just rushed to Fox to advocate for U.S. involvement as soon as he could.

He is also pushing for a US-backed regime change in Iran.

I would like to renominate Graham to get a one-way ticket to the frontlines of every war he wants America involved in." There's an attached video of Graham speaking.

The next shows Eagleman tweeting: UST IN! President Trump is HARD AT WORK all weekend after the massive strikes on Iran!

He’s already on the phone with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte!

Trump is a machine!" There's an attached video of a news segment about the war in Iran.

X isn't a country, it's a private party where the host is paid $ for every guest in attendance, and controls who can speak the loudest. There is no "winning" over the owner, only supporting him by attending the party.
