I agree that it makes logical sense for Trump to have been making a less-offensive, less-insulting point about *saving* Los Angeles and San Diego from being nuked rather than saying it would be no big deal if we were nuked. Except that's not what he actually said?

I wonder if that's mostly an immigration/credentials question. If a job is created but there aren't any new workers to fill it and the only option is poaching from somewhere else, does it really count?

I've spent years running around the region and I know plenty of Arab Christians but it wasn't until today that I heard about Arab Lutherans. No doubt it's the best food in the social hour after church of any Lutheran congregation although the competition is mostly casserole so that's a low bar

No. He said "let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego" and everyone cheered. This is the guy who initially thought covid would only kill people in cities and was cool with that. You don't have to give him, or the pigs in his audience, the benefit of the doubt

OK maybe Trump loves cities and his audience just missed the finer points of his famously subtle rhetoric. Or maybe he hates us. This is the guy who initially thought covid would only kill people in cities and was cool with that so you really don't need to give him the benefit of the doubt

George Dubya @itisgeorge.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Not obvious at all. Why did the audience cheer when he said "let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego"? They do this all the time. I won't pretend like this traitor/child rapist/thief, and the racist trash who hate America and treat him like a god, have our well being in mind.

It never ceases to amaze me how much the trash who masturbate to Donald Trump every night hate America. Nothing is stopping them from heading to the airport and living the dream of racism and failure in Belarus or some other shithole. Do not ask me to respect people who would cheer if I was nuked

He killed USAID which by itself is a decision with a higher body count than any decision made by any world leader since Mao. He is a monster and the worst president in history and everyone will be better off when he's dead. I am under no obligation to give that creature the benefit of the doubt

George Dubya @itisgeorge.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Counterpoint: he says "let them take out Los Angeles" and the audience cheers, and it's extremely clear why they're cheering, and I don't have to pretend he's good when he's a traitor and a pedophile and a rapist, and his fans are racist scum, so fuck him and fuck every single person in that arena

Ooh! If you're looking for questions to ask, I've got a farmer relative who told me agrovoltaics wouldn't work because farms have expensive combines and whatnot and growing crops beneath solar panels would require that they buy new equipment. Is there a way to deal with that?

Tom Daschle repped SD forever. The path to victory this time is probably half gas prices, a quarter anti-authoritarian, and a quarter glonzo rather than Daschle's "take care of the farm bureau and the credit card companies" formula but it might not be totally impossible

To be fair you could make every voter watch an AI slop video titled "When FDR Disrespected Michael Jordan And Instantly Regretted It" followed by a one-question test that asks "did this really happen?" and it would disqualify like half of the MAGA vote

I'm in favor of progress but one thing that turns me into a RETVRN weirdo is the idea that online ticket sales make anything better. That ticket adjusted for inflation would be $40 and the online shit makes it possible to add zeroes to that. That's all it does, that's what it's for.

It was the stone age so no online portals and qr codes and accounts and different online payment methods. Online = you can buy a ticket from the comfort of your couch, but also some Macedonian kid can buy all the tickets from the comfort of his couch and charge you $1 zillion on the secondary market

Here's a story to blow your mind. I saw Nirvana in 1994 which entailed: 1. Walk downtown to the venue 2. Give the box office guy $20, get change and a ticket which went into my wallet 3. On the night of the show, go to the venue, give them the ticket, get in, the end (great show by the way)

It's tough to track b/c "cops saw a guy smoking fent behind a dumpster so the property manager decided to keep all lights on 24/7" or "cops saw a dealer hide behind a tree so the chief complained to the city arborist who cut down all trees in that zip code" probably won't show up in the literature

There are citations at this link (seems like Fisher and Nasar were scared of trees back in the 90s) but I can't remember where I heard cops talking about it and it's driving me nuts. Maybe I saw it in Newsweek or something back in the day but I know it was real depts.washington.edu/hhwb/Thm_Cri...

What's wild is Michael Baumgartner is in a rematch with Carmela Conroy, a meh candidate whom he beat by 21 points two years ago. The last time this district voted blue, Kurt Cobain was alive. What do the internal polls look like if they're worried about it now?

George Dubya @itisgeorge.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
I don't know if this is anecdotal, but I remember cops advocating for cutting trees down in poor neighborhoods b/c criminals could hide behind them, objecting to courtyards in public housing that aren't visible from a patrol car, etc. Basically wanting whole neighborhoods built around line of sight
