This week is #CervicalCancerPreventionWeek. Cervical screening is a free NHS test which checks for high risk HPV, which is the cause of nearly all cervical cancers. If you're nervous about attending, check out what support and adjustments are available - bit.ly/49yTHh7
Cervical screening saves around 5000 lives in the UK every year.

NHS England has just published the updated Accessible Information Standard, which makes clear how NHS and social care services in England must provide information to blind and partially sighted people in a way they can read. It's a step forward - here's what's improved: #MyInfoMyWay 1/7
“Blind and partially sighted people have the legal right to receive their health and care information in formats like large print, email, audio and braille. Too often, these rights are still not being upheld. #MyInfoMyWay”. Black on white graphic with pink hashtag.

It's #BowelCancerAwareness month and so we're helping to raise awareness of non-visual signs which mean you should make an appointment with your GP. You don't need sight to look for signs and early diagnosis can save lives.
You don’t need sight to look for signs. You don’t need sight to look for signs. Many of us may have heard of visual symptoms to look out for such as stool changes or the presence of blood but there are many symptoms of bowel cancer which can be monitored without sight:
Diarrhoea or constipation that is not usual for you
Needing to poo more or less often than usual for you
Often feeling like you need to poo, even if you've just been to the toilet
Stomach pain
A lump in your stomach
Boating
Losing weight without trying
Feeling very tired for no reason
Bowel cancer can cause anaemia (when you have fewer red blood cells than usual), which can make you feel very tired, short of breath and have headaches.
Many of us may have heard of visual symptoms to look out for such as stool changes or the presence of blood but there are many symptoms of bowel cancer which can be monitored without sight:
If you have any of these symptoms for 3 weeks or more - make an appointment with your GP. The NHS and iSightCornwall logos.
