a guy in a tesla honked at me because i was a tiny bit in the street taking this picture. i moved aside and he rolled down his window to ask, with furrowed brow, "why take pictures of nothing?". he drove off before i could answer maybe the stupidest question i've ever been asked #coolpicturesbynicky

this means my blog is no longer Javascript-free but the map is entirely optional and the page loads perfectly fine without JS enabled so I'm still keeping the zero-JS 88×31 button on my front page

* \discretionary{hy-}{phen}{hyphen} lets you insert a one-off discretionary hyphenation * \slash is a forward slash that is permitted to be followed by a line break where normally `/` isn't * \linebreak[0] through [4] encourages a line break with increasing insistency

it's always disappointing to me when I see a silly online vote that is not some form of ranked choice voting because if it is not in the psyches of even the nerdiest online how are we ever going to get electoral reform anywhere IRL

Was walking past this building and through the window saw this backrooms-ass room, so I accidentally took the coolest picture ever due to the window's reflection

A backrooms-ass room with a twilight sky and trees seemingly imposed over it in a dream-like fashion (it's the reflection of the window)

I think the duration is baked into the app: github.com/bluesky-soci... maxsize for video blobs is in the lexicon: pdsls.dev/at://did:plc... There is also a separate blob size limit many PDSs set, which was typically 100mb a while back and wasn't made visible anywhere.

github.com/bluesky-soci... the file size limit is part of the bsky lexicon, so I think if PDSes want to correctly host bsky records they need to honour the limits as set by bluesky in the lexicon

hmm. who are the upload limits set by? I would guess it's not the PDS since it wouldn't have any reason to understand the length of a video. does that mean if bluesky the app (the appview?) decides on a new higher limit, every PDS is forced to honour it?

the Bee Movie (2007) but it fits within bsky's new video constraints (max 10 mins, 300 MB)

does anyone recognize what shark this is? (if it is one??) I found a Vancouver Aquarium species list that says the only sharks are blacktip, epaulette, and bamboo, but the blacktips are in a different tank and this looks too big to be epaulette or bamboo

everyone asks what monospace coding font you use but no one asks what fonts you *don't* use. I am answering the question nobody asked ionathan.ch/2025/09/11/c... please appreciate the live-in-browser demonstration, I had to obtain nine (9) woff2 files for this due to sourcehut pages' restrictive CSP
