Your children need to be ordinarily resident in Scotland for 3 years immediately before the start date of their university course to qualify for free tuition. The key legal test is living in Scotland (and having settled status) for those 3 full years prior to 1 August of the year they start

Thanks. He has a health condition so couldn't risk a manky student flat. His sister is in a manky flat that we have tried to deep clean. What my daughter has in work ethic for her studies and job she lacks in picking up after herself and cleaning. Bloody kids. Gotta love them.

His sister got FOMO so has a flat in Edinburgh. She has a part-time job in term time that she does more hours at in the holidays. That keeps her loans down. She has free tuition as well.

My son graduated from university this summer. He is a Scottish graduate who went to a Scottish university. As such he didn't pay any tuition fees. As he commuted from home, he has no debt from living in Edinburgh. A graduate with no debt. Just like his dad and mum were.

Once donated, the money became SNP funds, not the donor’s, so individuals wouldn’t likely be entitled to claim it back. The SNP were the victims here, not those at fault. Talk of “claiming it back” risks implying otherwise. Perhaps the SNP should instead pursue Murrell for the amount embezzled.

This week will show that Westminster denies democracy again. Scotland returns a majority of MSPs that are pro Independence. They apply to Westminster to hold a referendum on Independence. Westminster will deny this. Labour are in power at Westminster with 33.7% of the vote. 73 out of 129 MSPs....

A system designed to not get a majority worked as expected. The 2 nearest parties to the SNP (Liebour and the Fascists) have 41 less seats than the SNP each. And those parties only have 2 seats more than the Scottish Greens!

SNP got 5% more in the FPTP constituency seat vote than Labour got for their landslide General Election victory in 2024. If this was a FPTP election, the SNP would have had 57 of the 73 seats which is 78% of the seats. This was a serious drubbing of the other parties. The SNP won this election.
