At long last, the Fragments of Fear podcast returns! I didn’t expect this at all, but hadn’t given up hope. Listening to Rachael Nisbet and Peter Jilmstad discuss gialli can be more entertaining than watching the movies themselves. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/f...

Watched Akira on the big screen (with a laser projector!) for the first time in *mumble* decades. I’ve seen it many times, but today I noticed new details: a Citroen H van, and a tv showing Mito Komon(?). I’ve been watching too much Jonathan Ferguson, b/c I also noted soldiers were carrying SA80s.

日本の方はゴミ箱が嫌いかな。旅行で北海道に来て、ゴミ箱見つかれないです。東京も同じことです。

At last, good news from WWDC. Document objects can access the fileURL. Of course, we could do that from the beginning with NSDocument…

WWDC this year seemed more obnoxiously smug than usual. I knew they weren’t going to walk back the Liquid Glass mistake but I didn’t expect them to double down on it. I’m not sure if I’m glad or disappointed no one I worked with was speaking this year.

This new film, “健康ちえのわトランポリン教室” (Health Chie’s Trampoline Classroom) looks amazing. It would be cool if someone picked it up for US distribution… youtu.be/wBH8tFTIFFU?...

I attended a showing of the incredible documentary Chain Reactions, and got to talk with the director Alexandre O. Philippe. So cool. I had no idea #TexasChainsawMassacre is so important to Takeshi Miike. Also had no idea I’m the same age as both TCM and @horrornonna.com.

Trailer for the #FacesOfDeath remake: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRYr... Sadly, I think a remake of "The Killing of America" might be more appropriate.

Every so often, I'll try an Internet search to find out the name of an old TV show or song. Years go by, and the search remains fruitless, but eventually the answer appears. I've wondered about the theme for the PBS show Innovation for decades. Today I finally got an answer: Earth Watch A

I have a question for the BlueSky hive mind. I ask family members to donate to charity in lieu of Christmas presents. This year, I'm looking for ways to help #cats in #Ukraine. Can anyone recommend some charities or NGOs which are providing food, shelter or medical care for cats in Ukraine?

@aaronlanterman.bsky.social Thanks for making the ECE2026 video on Complex Numbers. I've been meaning to watch the whole series, but this one in particular was great since I've been puzzling through phase unwrapping while working on a project.

@filmmovement.bsky.social I finished your Red Peony Gambler set. It's great - is there a chance you'll release a set with the other films in the series?

First time watching #wwdc after leaving Apple. It’s not as much fun to watch without free pizza, and being able to snark with coworkers. Now I have to buy my own pizza, and snark into a void.

Hi #MusicScience people. I'm a programmer, hoping to change careers. Took a class on signal processing and discovered #MusicInformationRetrieval. I associate that with e.g. IRCAM but are there corporate jobs as well? Would I need to go back to school for a music tech degree to get one? Need advice.

why is Xcode still so janky after all of this time? srsly, ProjectBuilderWO on Windows was way more stable, even taking into account the crashy DPS server.
