When asked about online backlash against casting decisions in The Odyssey, Nolan calmly reminded interviewers "I spent 10 years of my life dealing with Batman."

Every week, I get happier and happier that I sold my Series X last year. Watching them completely torch their brand month after month has become so exhausting. My heart goes out to the people who lost their jobs today and the thousands of others who did previously under Xbox's leadership.

Another thought on this - storage space (ie - SSDs) have increased so sharply in price that storing digital games is becoming increasingly difficult and expensive. Discs are DIRT CHEAP to produce - so even if you have to install them, you have a physical, cheap solution right there.

I buy some key cards because I'd still rather have that than fully digital, but it still sucks haha

010

indiejacob @indiejacob.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

No...game key cards are not great. I would rather have everything fully on cart but the issue with that is that Nintendo would need to pursue a different medium because of the limitations of the 64GB cartridge. Games don't run as fast off of it and it forces developers to shrink their games down.

Making the jump to just Switch + PC has been an amazing decision. Valve is not perfect but I trust them way more when it comes to digital purchases. This industry is in the absolute trash gutter at this point.

020

indiejacob @indiejacob.bsky.social · 01/07/2026

Welp. Can't say I'm surprised about this at all because the limitations of physical media have been there for quite some time with video games. It does suck though, especially as I care deeply about physical media but it's just been a matter of time for this.

Star Fox is seriously an incredible remake. I definitely had my doubts about the choice to remake this game, but I'm on board with this vision. I'd still rather have something entirely new though, so let's hope this leads to a new game in a few years!

I would pay money just to quit hearing about GTA VI at this point. Can that game please come out already so the industry can move on haha

I think star fox is getting such high praise from everyone because people forgot games don’t have to feel mildly like homework

I'm in their camera ecosystem and because of the money I've invested into that so far, I'll continue to use those products. But as far as tv's, soundbars, games, consoles, accessories, etc? Absolutely not...this is unacceptable.

indiejacob @indiejacob.bsky.social · 26/06/2026

In no world should this be legal. This is insane. Not buying a single Sony product ever again. My God.

Quake released June 22, 1996 in North America Mario 64 released June 23, 1996 in Japan When it comes to the 3rd dimension and the medium of video games, almost everything made since stands on the shoulders of these two titans, and they were released (given the time difference) mere hours apart

The cartridge for Super Mario 64 and the CD case for Quake, the retail shareware version.

Yeah it's not a shock at all but more it's another depressing realization of where hardware is at and will continue to be for the next 2+ years. But whatever. Lol

100

indiejacob @indiejacob.bsky.social · 22/06/2026

Yeah...this is gonna further push console manufacturers to keep increasing prices. I know the hardware space is tough right now, but if the industry wants to keep doing this, then count me out. I've already said that the Switch 2 is likely my last console purchase and this is just solidifying that.

I think it looks freaking great. I really want Nintendo to swing for the fences on this one and make some big changes. I can go back and play the original whenever I want, so I'd love to see a reimagining that hits the main story beats but modernizes certain aspects like the overworld design.

110

indiejacob @indiejacob.bsky.social · 03/06/2026

For sure, we now have data limitations with physical media. Games require faster processing/loading speeds than what traditional methods likes discs or cartridges can provide. It just doesn't make financial sense to manufacture a physical product that costs like...$25+ to create probably.

Quit saturating the market with multiple shows or movies every single year and then only hire top tier writers and directors for the projects you do put out. Problem solved. 👍
