Remember Polygon? He's back, in Pog form. I thought this would be a cute use of my stickers as something to give out that fits my retro vibe.

A fictional cover for an Eyewitness Book entitled "Indi's SpIns", with the subtitle "Discover the things that give a certain coyotter puppy the good brain wiggles."

The rest of the book is the typical white background image collage, including such things as a digivice, a dinosauria cladogram, the planet Neptune, magical and mathematical symbols, a coyote, an otter, and a teapot with very poor usability.

at this point saying they don't work at all, or only stochastically emit things from their training set, or can't solve novel problems, is denying their ability, but only in regards to coding. natural-language interfaces are here but you have to know what you're doing to use them effectively

the core problem of the whole agentic AI thing is that they work quite well for coding, and coders assume this means they will work quite well for everything else on the planet, because they are coders with a Silicon Valley mindset, and they tell this to investors with Silicon Valley money

"I Contain Multitudes" This digitally painted piece honors coyote by tracing its lineage from the first cells of life to the animal trotting our cities and the wilderness today. The thread gives descriptions of all the extinct organisms shown in this piece (not to scale)
This digitally painted piece honors the survivor spirit of the coyote by tracing its lineage from the first cells of life to the animal trotting our landscapes today. Below the horizon, carefully chosen ancestors mark pivotal moments in adaptation, each contributing to the form and survivor we see today. Above the horizon, Coyote stands alert at the center, framed by both Denver’s skyline and a mountain backdrop, symbols of their ability to thrive in cities as well as wilderness. Embedded in the ground are the skulls and bones of carnivores whose lineages ended long ago, emphasizing Coyote’s persistence in contrast.

Nice to have a relationship where I can say “we need to take a detour through the park, you’ll see why” and then just hop up on a ledge, walk twenty feet over a pond, grab a thing from a shrine, and have the other person take it totally in stride 💜

Ah, that moment when you discover a random body response isn't just something everyone has that's so normal they don't talk about, but actually a minor medical condition... Yay? (You mean it's NOT normal that relatively-light scratching of bare skin will leave a raised red area?)

I made the Silicon Dawn and I have no idea what the heck TPOT is. I am also definitely not an Internet Rationalist, I generally consider that to be in the same bin of "intellectually smart but emotionally stupid people who use their idea of logic to justify being assholes".

So this sent me off into a weird reverie about the tangled relationship between postfurry, transhumanism, and rationalism. "Postfurry" as such arose in the early 2000s, out of a group of furries on a BDSM-focused, text-based roleplay environment called Tapestries. 1/

The problem with talking about the history of Postfurry in any "authoritative" way is that it's sort of just a bunch of stuff that a relatively small friends group did, that then got mythologized (and/or sometimes vilifed)

What False Gods are Not. (Some soft kindly words for the abandoned.)
WHat FALSE GODS ARE NOT

False gods are not other gods.
They are not strange names on older lips,
not foreign altars dusted with spice and ash.

False gods are not the ones your neighbour calls upon,
nor the moon-faced ones your ancestors danced around.
They are not gods with different rules.

No. A false god is anything
that cannot carry the weight of your worship—
that buckles beneath your hope,
that cracks under your love,
that poisons your compassion
with hunger for control.

False gods are that which cannot hold
your tenderness without twisting it,
your longing without devouring it,
your awe without turning it to fear.

They cannot weep with you.
They cannot kneel beside you.
They cannot walk with you in the garden.

And still—we make them.
We crown them from our fears,
offer them our trembling obedience,
pray to them for safety
and call it faith.

But only the true can bear your worship
and not break you.

Only the true receives your love
and gives it back

undiminished

Anyone here a pro at designing boardgames? I have this neat monetary system in Noss, and I wanna develop a game using these chips, but I wanna make sure it's balanced and complex and fun. If you have some ideas and are interested in helping craft this, let me know! The game is called Qu.
Shiny, chevron-shaped (like a 3D L shape), metallic chips of different colors that are assembled into a larger cube. The fully assembled cube is to the left, named a Quggon, with a value of 100. Next to the cube spread a set of different chips. The Hex is blue, valued 60. The Horn is brass, valued 20. The Cup is copper, valued 10. The Hand is chromium, valued 5. The Qupi is steel, valued 1 (there are five of them). There is also a Lode, valued only 0.1, which is of black lead. It looks like a single tiny cube with a square whole passing through its center. A caption under the illustration reads: The main currency in Noss is the Qupi, which consists of chips of identical size made of metal alloys infused with magnium. The chips are magnetic (except for the fractional lodes), and polarized in such a way that they can be assembled into a perfect cube of exactly too Qupi by joining five single Qupi chips with one Hand, Cup, Horn, and Hex.

ABDL or "Littles" get such unfair treatment in our spaces. They're lumped in with those who are dangerous when in actuality the ones who need age regression to feel safe are some of the most vulnerable amongst us. Remember that we are all fighting a different fight. You dont know why someone hurts.

Hey There Little One
hey there. little one.
i’ve been trailing your scent
through the wasteland for days.
don’t run.
i’m not here to hurt you.
i’m here to tell you—you’re not wrong.
all your life you’ve twitched at shadows,
felt eyes where there were none,
ached like something was missing
just under your skin.

they called it dreaming.
they called it madness.
but i’ve seen it.
i’ve seen you.
and you’re real.
not some soft mistake.
not a too-bright child who never learned to settle.
you are claws. you are hunger.
you are song written in wet leaves and dirt.
you are what came before language.
don’t you remember?
when you used to listen with your whole body?
when you could read the sky like scripture?
when sleep came only after circling down,
nose to tail, heart to moss?

you used to know these things.
before they taught you to be still.
before they filed your teeth
and stuffed your mouth with plastic.
before the quiet got so loud
you forgot how to feel.
but i didn’t forget you.
and you didn’t lose it.
it’s all still inside—
the instinct, the kin-sense,
the aching need to run without name or reason.
the snarl that isn’t anger
but love with no words.
you’ve tried to play nice.
tried to keep your head down,
your tail tucked.

but i see you.
i see what’s under the mask.
the beast that paces.
the soft creature still watching the trees
for a signal.
for a friend.
for a way home.
listen.

this world isn’t safe.
but it was never meant to be.
we weren’t made for steel boxes and lonely kitchens.
we were meant for packs.
for muddy paws and rib-warmth and
eyes that say i know you.
i don’t promise ease.
but i promise this:
you are not alone.
you were never alone.

so rise.
panting, blinking, wild with grief—
but rise.
and when the night presses in,
don’t whisper.
howl. howl into the void
until something howls back.
and then run to it.

run to the ones who remember.
run like your name depends on it.
because it does.
i’ve waited so long.
we all have
come back.
come through.
come home.

VINDICATION! The first thing I thought of when hearing “AI increases productivity” is an HCI study from the 80s which haunts me: When tasked with using keyboard shortcuts vs mouse, they believe keyboard is faster but it’s not; they just discount the time they take remembering the shortcut
