In fairness to the P90, it's still in production & active service around the world. I don't disagree with the Doctor's assessment that the AR-15 design has become the Rav4 & Prius of gun designs, but alternatives still exist. Kind of like the Range Rover and Fusion.

To be a good engineer, you need a broad and continuing education. I took history at university, I took music theory in history, and I took English literature. Pretty sure I've used things I learned in those classes more on the job than I've used Ohm's Law.

Update: mom passed away approximately 4 hours ago. I am coping in my own way, which seems to mostly involve pretending it hasn't actually happened & trying to work out how I'm supposed to be dealing with this. You only lose your parents twice.

FWIW, the language known as "Old[e] English" (sic) mostly dates from the 7th Century CE to the Norman Conquest. By the time of Shakespeare, we were working with early Modern English. Old English would be Beowulf. Middle English is Chaucer, and Modern English is Shakespeare and Martha Wells.
