(Australia) Emerge Australia @emergeaustralia.bsky.social has partnered with Edith Cowan University (ECU) to measure the impact of ME/CFS and long COVID eaecu.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_... Screenshot from latest Emerge Australia email bulletin #MEcfs #LongCovid #PwME #CFS #ME #MyalgicE
Contribute to Research: Be Counted
Emerge Australia has partnered with Edith Cowan University (ECU) to measure the impact of ME/CFS and long COVID, and we need as many of you as possible to take part.

If you're an adult in Australia living with ME/CFS or long COVID, this is your chance to share what daily life is really like: the impact on your health, work, study, relationships, and access to support. Your story will feed into a published, peer-reviewed study: real evidence, that Emerge Australia, as well as researchers, advocates and policymakers, can point to for years to come.

A quick note on the name, because we know there's been confusion:

https://stratus.campaign-image.com.au/images/13664000008912003_zc_v1_1784090954140__4_hsw_sq.jpg

This ECU/Emerge Australia survey is separate from the recent announcement that ME/CFS will be included in AIHW's Australian Burden of Disease Study (ABDS) for the first time since 2003. That milestone is already locked in. This survey is about building the next wave of published evidence, so our community's needs keep getting stronger recognition in the years after, including in future AIHW reporting.

TAKE THE SURVEY AT YOUR OWN PACE

4-page leaflet: "How to be Fragrance-Free" mcs-aware.org/wp-content/u... #MCS
Image of child holding their nose with the following text
How to be Fragrance-Free Why? Fragrances are an ingredient in almost everything we use from tissues and bin-bags to moisturiser and perfume, often added to mask the smell of the product. A typical cosmetic can contain between 50 and 100 fragrances, but fragrance sensitivity is an increasing problem: up to 30% of the public report adverse health effects from being exposed to scents (Steinemann). Synthetic and natural fragrances can be absorbed into the blood through the skin and by inhalation causing a range of symptoms from migraines and rashes to difficulty concentrating, breathing problems, and even seizures and collapse. Up to 72% of asthmatics are affected by fragrance (Mintel), as well as many children, people with eczema, M.E. and those undergoing chemotherapy. People who suffer from Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) can have severe reactions to very low levels of fragrances in products that other people are wearing or have previously used.
