Fixed a HAMMER2 deadlock on OpenBSD, taking a shared chain lock again would sleep if a writer was waiting, and the writer was waiting on us. Added RW_READAGAIN to rwlock(9) for that. It's the 0x202 in the last two rrw_enter calls. #OpenBSD
gdb disassembly of hammer2_chain_lock showing six rrw_enter calls; the last two pass 0x202 (RW_READ|RW_READAGAIN).

HAMMER2 running on OpenBSD: mount, PFS, snapshots, lz4 compression and fsck, WITNESS enabled. First came the import of the fs and its tools, now it's hunting lock order reversals. Still a TODO list, but it's usable. #OpenBSD

It's that simple, you pay and everything is ready. If all "startup" services were even 1% like this, the world would be a better place.

du(1) using st_blocks stat(2). hammer2_inode_data_count(ip) returns 0 because the inode has no DATA children. Then the 64KB fallback kicks in o.O

First mount/umount of #HAMMER2 on #OpenBSD A series of screencasts of hammer2 commands in OpenBSD, exploring everyday situations. Today we'll cover mount and umount. Soon I will publish a video (~6 min) applying a kernel patch + userland to get to the point in this video.

Code isn't public yet, still has plenty of rough edges that can kernel panic, so I want to clean it up a bit first. I'll send you =] a link once it's in better shape.

Privilege separation in Tesseras! 5 isolated processes OpenBSD-style (relayd(8)): parent supervises net, dns, http and control via Unix socketpairs. Each child with seccomp-bpf restricting syscalls to the minimum. And about crash? Parent auto-restarts it. #p2p #security #opensource
Three terminal commands demonstrating privilege separation in the tesseras P2P daemon: (1) ps --forest showing a process tree with parent PID 940002 and four children - net engine, dns serve, http serv, and control; (2) tesctl show status displaying node info with all four children reporting healthy status, 26 minute uptimes, and 0 restarts; (3) grep Seccomp on /proc showing Seccomp: 2 and Seccomp_filters: 1, confirming BPF syscall filters are active

Building a DNS layer where every zone is a keypair, not a leased string from a registrar. Lookups are encrypted, records are signed, resolution is peer-to-peer. No one can take your name because no one gave it to you. #p2p #dns #decentralized #privacy #cryptography #networking
