Fixed a HAMMER2 bug on OpenBSD. Small files keep their data inside the inode, and truncating one to zero left those bytes on disk. Grow the file again and the old contents came back instead of zeroes. Truncate now clears what is past EOF. #OpenBSD

Fixed a HAMMER2 deadlock on OpenBSD, taking a shared chain lock again would sleep if a writer was waiting, and the writer was waiting on us. Added RW_READAGAIN to rwlock(9) for that. It's the 0x202 in the last two rrw_enter calls. #OpenBSD
gdb disassembly of hammer2_chain_lock showing six rrw_enter calls; the last two pass 0x202 (RW_READ|RW_READAGAIN).

HAMMER2 running on OpenBSD: mount, PFS, snapshots, lz4 compression and fsck, WITNESS enabled. First came the import of the fs and its tools, now it's hunting lock order reversals. Still a TODO list, but it's usable. #OpenBSD

It's that simple, you pay and everything is ready. If all "startup" services were even 1% like this, the world would be a better place.

du(1) using st_blocks stat(2). hammer2_inode_data_count(ip) returns 0 because the inode has no DATA children. Then the 64KB fallback kicks in o.O

First mount/umount of #HAMMER2 on #OpenBSD A series of screencasts of hammer2 commands in OpenBSD, exploring everyday situations. Today we'll cover mount and umount. Soon I will publish a video (~6 min) applying a kernel patch + userland to get to the point in this video.

Wacom Intuos S (usb tablets) on OpenBSD. uwacom(4) see everything pen, pad, pressure levels but Xenocara ships no Wacom driver though, so it ends up as a fancy mouse. PS: you now get to endure my "artistic skills". Irony included 😇 ijanc.org/posts/wacom-...

Bluetooth keyboard working on #OpenBSD Logitech MX Keys Mini connected via BLE (HOGP). - USB HCI transport - SMP LESC pairing ECDH + AES-CMAC crypto - ATT/GATT - HID over GATT
OpenBSD console showing Bluetooth keyboard working. sysctl shows OpenBSD 7.9-beta GENERIC.MP kernel. dmesg shows "btkbd0 at btlehid0 reportid 1: 8 variable keys, 6 key codes" and "wskbd1 at btkbd0 mux 1". wsconsctl shows keyboard1.type=bluetooth with US encoding. All commands typed on a Logitech MX Keys Mini connected via BLE.

i've been testing bt on an obsd snapshot ThinkPad X1 Nano, mainly for mouse/keyb use, is just for personal use. The learning experience has been incredible the OpenBSD codebase is exceptionally clean and insightful. HID (mouse/keyb) is still not reliable enough for daily use. #OpenBSD #bluetooth

Privilege separation in Tesseras! 5 isolated processes OpenBSD-style (relayd(8)): parent supervises net, dns, http and control via Unix socketpairs. Each child with seccomp-bpf restricting syscalls to the minimum. And about crash? Parent auto-restarts it. #p2p #security #opensource
Three terminal commands demonstrating privilege separation in the tesseras P2P daemon: (1) ps --forest showing a process tree with parent PID 940002 and four children - net engine, dns serve, http serv, and control; (2) tesctl show status displaying node info with all four children reporting healthy status, 26 minute uptimes, and 0 restarts; (3) grep Seccomp on /proc showing Seccomp: 2 and Seccomp_filters: 1, confirming BPF syscall filters are active

Building a DNS layer where every zone is a keypair, not a leased string from a registrar. Lookups are encrypted, records are signed, resolution is peer-to-peer. No one can take your name because no one gave it to you. #p2p #dns #decentralized #privacy #cryptography #networking
