Not to mention that despite the name, LNG Canada is 100% foreign owned so profits will largely leave the country while Canadians will be left holding the bag if the Institute for Energy Economics & Financial Analysis is right and long-term demand for LNG in Asia fails to materialize. #cdnpoli

BREAKING: New polling released today shows that two in three Canadians support a tax on oil & gas companies’ excess profits. We’re not surprised. It’s outrageous that wealthy fossil fuel execs are making record profits while people across the country struggle with soaring energy prices & inflation.
BREAKING
66%
of Canadians support a tax on excess profits of oil and gas corporations, with revenues used to help Canadians lower energy bills.
Source: "Windfall Profits Tax Issue Report," National Survey, May 2026, Liaison StrategiesCanadians want the government to address the cost of living crisis. A direct household rebate leads the revenue-use options from an excess profits tax.Affordability is top of mind for most of us. An excess profits tax is a feasible, practical, and popular solution.
• A 75% tax on excess profits 120% above pre-crisis profit levels would still leave billions in the hands of oil and gas corporations.
• It would generate more than $40 billion (based on current prices) that could be given back to Canadians.
• Oil companies are set to make $10 million per hour based on conservative estimates. This is corporate profiteering.
• 74% of Liberal voters support the tax. Most Canadians agree:
