More than 80 scientists from the Kurdistan region of Iraq attended the online ICGEB awareness workshop which took place yesterday in collaboration with Koya University 💻
With crucial input from Dr. Emanuele Buratti, ICGEB Scientific Coordinator and invaluable advice from the ICGEB Appointed Governor for Iraq, Dr. Sumaya Yousif and the ICGEB Liaison Officer for Iraq, Dr. Nadia Al-Zahery, the participants were able to gauge the best approach to applying for the ICGEB programmes and had the opportunity to obtain answers to a variety of queries.

🚀 Advancing pandemic preparedness through innovation

FLUFET – a cutting-edge technology project for detecting zoonotic diseases – is at the forefront of strengthening global biosecurity. Developed in collaboration with ICGEB and international partners, this EIC Pathfinder initiative is pioneering rapid, accurate viral detection using next-generation sensing technology.

During April 13–17, ICGEB welcomed Davide Campagnol (Universidade da Coruña – CICA UDC), who joined forces with Alessandro Marcello and Tea Carletti from the Molecular Virology Lab. Together, they conducted joint experiments using the FLUFET device on real viral samples—an important step toward real-world application.

Tea Carletti, Research Associate in the Molecular Virology Lab, took part in the 2nd-year meeting of the European project FLUFET, held in Tenerife on 17–18 March. 🧬
The meeting brought together project partners to review the progress achieved so far and to discuss the next steps toward the development of the #FLUFET biosensor—an innovative platform designed for the continuous detection of viral pathogens.
These collaborative discussions are essential to align expertise across disciplines and to advance the design, testing, and validation of this cutting-edge technology.
