If you're a teacher (or represent a school) and you *are* interested in the connections between history and maths, and you're interested in exploring how they might be used to enrich teaching and learning in both subjects, here's a reminder that the #HaMiEN exists: historyand.mathsy.space

A lovely bit of #MathsInMuseums: a 'secret portrait' of Bonnie Prince Charlie. Following 1746's Battle of Culloden, those still loyal could toast the pic, but should a non-Jacobite turn up the mirror could be whipped away, leaving a seemingly abstract swirl […]

"Remember, you can't calculate the arc cos of 0. But at $59.99..... who cares!!!"

Who's booked tickets for the Pseudorandom Ensemble gig? 21st September 2026, 18:15, £8, MathsWorld UK (London's Southbank) (I'll be there!) #LiveMusic #maths
Promotional poster for The Pseudorandom Ensemble at MathsWorld London, featuring Colin Beveridge, Sam Holloway, Sam Hartburn and Gavan Fantom. Against a pale background patterned with musical notes, the poster shows four musicians in mathematical T-shirts and a singer performing in front of a periodic-table-style display. Text describes “a musical journey through the highs, lows and medians of being a mathematician”, with detours into pentagonal tilings, squircles and square packing — and promises “maths, music” and plenty of exposition between songs.

Today's unanswerable survey question: describing the size of my parcel, where none of the options are true. There's “smaller than a shoebox” and “bigger than a shoebox”, but the parcel I received isn't either of those, being very much an actual shoebox.
YouGov

How big was this parcel? (Please select the answer that best applies)

Small enough to fit through a letterbox (e.g. 25cm x 35cm x 2.5cm)

Bigger than a letterbox but smaller than a shoebox (25cm x 35cm x 12cm)

Bigger than a shoebox but smaller than a small carry on suitcase (35cm x 45cm x 20cm)

Bigger than a small carry on suitcase, but small enough for one person to deliver on their own

Requires more than one person to deliver
