...have you ever seen AI write anything? It's the most boring, standard-fare shit. It's never anything compelling. Because to do that it needs to be creative. It can't 'learn' that. It'll always choose the most 'optimised' output. In creative writing's case, that's predictable, boring-ass shit.

I think what they're getting at is AI can't create. It's hard to explain, but like...whilst it's able to do anything humanity could, it also can't. You mentioned how it can make a novel. Sorta? Like, it can churn out shit YA prose. Maybe one day it'll understand set-up, pay off, etc. But...
