Why the heck does Amazon shopping show up as supporting Heath Connect on Android?
The Android Health Connect permissions screen for Amazon Shopping. It shows the possible options of 'Activity', 'Body Measurements', 'Sleep', and 'Vitals'.

This kind of thinking is based on the highly flawed assumption that getting something done is always better than nothing. There are much more ways to fuck something up than make it better so the assumption fails in the majority of cases.

Agents sometimes make up the weirdest metaphors. "That is not an economy. It is a cathedral of bookkeeping with no congregation." I'm sorry, what?

Our little one passed away today. He was 18 and half years old and was with us for 14 of those years. The best of dogs. Gutted.
A senior toy manchester terrier in a dog wheelchair. He is wearing a bib that says 'Happy Birthday' and a party hat with the number 18 written on it. He is the handsomest bestest boy ever.

It really sucks that me and my wife will have a small window of time where we could actually travel in the next year or two, but it's going to be stupid expensive because of the orange idiot.

I upgraded my home lab with a 10in 8U rack. Still more to be done to improve cabling in the back but this will do for now.
A 10in 8U rack with a 12 port network patch panel, 3 intake NUC Nikki PCs, and a QNAP NAS in it. A small display and fan are also visible to the side. A 10in 8U rack with a 12 port network patch panel, 3 intake NUC Nikki PCs, and a QNAP NAS in it.

This kind of thing sucks so much. Ads are just so lucrative that they can't just let folks pay to not get them.

I just can't be productive with a time-boxed daily schedule. I need to work without distractions until the work is done. I'll never get anything done if I have to finish by certain time. My brain is just not built that way but I feel myself forced into it more and more as I get older.

The TLDR newsletters are useful but are so AI driven they often have really blatant errors; articles that don't match the subheadings, emails where the articles don't match the subject etc.

It's fun that two of my most unique skills, the Japanese language and software engineering were both automated during my lifetime to such a degree that it would be crazy to think about spending the time to learn them as a young person now.

I'd feel better about this if I thought there would be as many or more jobs as a result. UBI is also a bit of a pipe dream. It will practically never happen and if it does it will be very basic "water and crust of bread" sustenance.

I use AI tools at work and sometimes for OSS. But I'd really have a much better future outlook about AI, expanding into Space etc. if the companies that were doing it were led by decent people.

The way things are going I think it's a matter of time now before tech is mostly just VCs, tech bro entrepreneurs, and low paid AI drivers. I don't think that learning to use AI better is going to be a skill that has a lot of lasting value. The end goal is to pay fewer people less to output faster

Modern programming - Design: Talk to AI. AI makes 85% of design decisions - Coding: AI writes all code based on design it wrote - Testing: AI writes test harness. - Eval (optional): Ask AI about tests and rubber stamp approve. Repeat.

Nothing more demoralizing than spending a bunch of time looking into a project to see if you can add value and learning that all your ideas won't really add value anyway.

Guys I hate to break it to you, but under capitalism, automation improves productivity but doesn't actually reduce the amount of time workers must work to survive. Instead, productivity gains are captured as profit. Only worker organizing will reduce our labor time. Yes, this applies to 'AI'
