Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 30/09/2026Why the heck does Amazon shopping show up as supporting Heath Connect on Android? 131
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 24/09/2026Our little one passed away today. He was 18 and half years old and was with us for 14 of those years. The best of dogs. Gutted. 2191
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 21/09/2026I upgraded my home lab with a 10in 8U rack. Still more to be done to improve cabling in the back but this will do for now. 120
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 03/09/2026This captures what I'm thinking currently. However, I think the role of "structuring work for others" (e.g. AI agents) is going to be a fairly short lived profession as AI agents can mostly structure work for themselves. newsletter.humanwhocodes.com/posts/the-ch... 100
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 27/06/2026The only thing that shows it's a passkey is if you click on the domain name, it says "This passkey was created on YYYY/MM/DD" but that's it. I probably just deleted it thinking that password manager had stored my username inadvertently without seeing that text. 000
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 09/06/2026The state of open source today is a dood named shustain (should be sh*tstain amirite?) telling a university professor with a life who maintains a critical Neovim plugin to "go switch to something that doesn't require interacting with people". Mother of mercy. 111
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 07/05/2026Our good boy Jin just had his 18th birthday a couple of weeks ago. He got some Kobe Wagyu but he told me he's not ready to start adulting yet. 050
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 05/05/2026It's nice that Google Docs has a built-in plagiarism feature now though. 000
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 28/03/2026Since I posted this yesterday it's now down 4.4% over the last 6mo. 010
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 10/03/2026Looking at AI generated content strikes me as just like reading those texts where the letters of each word are jumbled up. Humans can do it because their brains auto-correct but it's just dumb to make content that way. 120
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 26/02/2026I zoomed in and noticed I'm really close to this cluster of Go team members. It's nice to be in such good company. 😆 020
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 26/02/2026This is really cool. My follows are mostly - Cloud Native/Open Source - Web Dev - Japanese Dev - Progressive Commentary 110
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 28/01/2026I hope folks have fun at FOSDEM this weekend. I really enjoyed it when I gave a talk there back in 2018. 010
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 19/01/2026It's amazing that so many folks will block a photographer (100+ in 24hr) for posting a photo of him getting beat up and pepper sprayed by the police. On Bluesky of all places. 010
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 10/12/2025How does Warren Buffett look so good at 95 when he drinks so much Coca-Cola? Dude must just love investing so much he can keep really low stress levels. 010
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 04/12/2025This is what CO2 looks like when you get on the train. #aranet4 210
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 28/11/2025When I look at the GitHub tab and how it's cut off, my brain always completes it as "GitHub・Where software goes to die" 020
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 23/11/2025I got an aranet4. It tells me my office CO2 isn't great but not terrible either. 310
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 18/11/2025Ouch. Seems pretty major. They're at least an hour and a half into this incident. #HugOps 010
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 15/11/2025haveibeenpwned.com is pretty brazen here. I mean, the second you put a password in this input it's burned anyway so what's the point of checking it? 000
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 24/09/2025Phishers seem to be in the middle of a sustained campaign on GitHub using bots to send phishing issues on GitHub and make them look like normal email. Bots also can't be blocked wholesale AFAICT so it makes it hard to avoid these messages. 110
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 06/08/2025I think "vibe coding" is a perfect way to describe the unseriousness of giving full control over coding to an AI. It seems surreal that folks have embraced it and vendors have really leaned into it. 020
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 04/08/2025Today is already very hot but tomorrow is going to be a real scorcher. I'm not sure I've ever seen 39C here. 100
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 29/07/2025I love how deep research (especially in emerging areas) is likely just going to parrot the marketing and talking points for corporations rather than providing balance and nuance. It doesn't help that the media largely just repeats those corporate narratives. 110
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 26/07/2025Yeah. It's going to be a tough coolest August for the rest of our lives. The upcoming forecast does not bring any respite. 35+ degrees 70% humidity every day in July/Aug is the new normal. 26 lows at like 4am at best. 100
Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 26/07/2025Our house's air conditioning not keeping up. It's broiling out here. Here's the past 7 days of WBGT temperatures in Tokyo. 110

Ian Lewis @ianlewis.org · 12/04/2025Probably the last day to really enjoy the cherry blossoms this year. The trees have lost a good amount but the falling petals are beautiful 🌸 130
