Really impressive stuff from Red Sox LHP Jake Bennett in the 5th inning. Allowed 3 hits to start inning (2 could have been errors). Bounced back to strikeout 3/4/5 hitters on breaking balls. Really good feel for both his curveball & sweeper. He set a career high with 11 strikeouts tonight.

Red Sox LHP Payton Tolle debuted a reworked changeup today. He only threw 3, but the spin rate was substantially lower than where it was last year & is now very splitter like. It will be interesting to see where its shape settles as he throws it more this spring.

Incredible performance by José De León in his first MLB appearance since 2023. This was the longest outing of his MLB career and only the second time he’s thrown 6 innings or more. Remarkably, the other time was his MLB debut for the Dodgers, all the way back in September 2016.

The development of Payton Tolle’s cutter this year has been remarkable. When I saw him in spring he didn’t even throw it & in Greenville it blended w/his slider. Fast forward a few months & he has the confidence in it to use it twice to start an AB w/2 runners in scoring position
